The worst service i got in ages. It is a shame that in this exclusive location, as a Spaniard, we cannot bring another image to our visitors. Madrid can offer lots if great places and experiences and this place is not one of those unfortunately.

Absolutely awesome! We truly recommend mussels and pawns from Huelva. Bar tenders are very friendly as well.

lovely bar with a fantastic atmosphere. We only had tapas and some drinks but they were very good. Great location and the service was excellent.

Fantastic place. Food was excellent - typical Spanish and delicious. Highly recommended. Decor is gorgeous - again v typical Madrileno. Can't wait to return

We just walked in off the street and it was the best decision. Tile floors and walls bright and welcoming a huge glass chandelier over the chefs area.my brother had shoulder of lamb I had oxtail stew both were amazing. Please try it. Wish I was in Madrid longer so I could return.

We went to this restaurant twice, we had such a great time. The staff are really fun and friendly. The atmosphere is great. It is on the plaza with the opera house. We had a good crab stuffed pepper. My sole was delicious and my husband liked his sirloin tips. They have a good, inexpensive house red. The dessert was... More

The restaurant is in a nice location but the food is definitely overpriced. They'll propose you some dishes which are good - but not on the menu - and they will charge you a lot. For instance, a dish of grilled mushrooms for 19€! Crazy. A dish of artichokes with anchovies, 19€. Absolutely crazy. Avoid.

Tapas was excellent, reasonably priced especially for being right on a plaza. Vermouth de grifo refreshing. Bartender spoke no English but was very friendly and worked with us patiently, which was something we struggled with during our Madrid stay

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
