Classy but expensive place - superb Iberico ham

Visited early in the evening whilst it was quiet. Nice bar inside and quite large by most Tapas bar standards. Bit on the pricey side but the Iberico ham (normal, as oppossed to Gran Reserva) was delicious. You pay for it though and the top Iberico ham is v v expensive. Worth a short visit ony... read more

Our first stop on our Tapas tour, this place became our go to place is Madrid. We had lunch here after the Royal Palace and on our last night in Spain, we took a cab from our airport hotel just to eat here one last time. Not gourmet food , but fresh, great standards and excellent service. Please try their... More

A good place to enjoy Plaza de Isabel while having great Tapas or meal. Try their Vermouth, Jamon Iberico de Bellota, the croquettas and the peppers and tuna. A good wine list. The service is great

The worst service i got in ages. It is a shame that in this exclusive location, as a Spaniard, we cannot bring another image to our visitors. Madrid can offer lots if great places and experiences and this place is not one of those unfortunately.

Absolutely awesome! We truly recommend mussels and pawns from Huelva. Bar tenders are very friendly as well.

We just walked in off the street and it was the best decision. Tile floors and walls bright and welcoming a huge glass chandelier over the chefs area.my brother had shoulder of lamb I had oxtail stew both were amazing. Please try it. Wish I was in Madrid longer so I could return.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
