I have eaten several times. The food is very good but a little pricey. The service is excellent. Unfortunately, the dish that I always ate there was no longer on the menu, which greatly disappointed me. I had the Crayfish crepes which were very good. Wife had lamb chops which she said were excellent. I'll have to take her word... More

It´s very popular among locals so you need to be awake and don´t expect servers to approach and ask how everything is going; I mean you need to be proactive to be attended. Tapas are great and also raciones (big tapas) are generous. They´ve recently moved a few meters far from the old location.

A very warm and typically Spanish decor. Many side dishes came with the menu, the food was excellent, difficult to stop eating! Excellent wines and the staff were very friendly and efficient (even for a group of 20 that we were)!

We had high expectations after the hotel recommended it and the room is very nice. We had to ask repeatedly for water and we had to ask to order wine, which arrived after the appetizers. Grrrrr. The "Soggy Rice with Lobster" also has clams and shrimp but that's not disclosed on the menu. The "lobster" was virtually meatless pieces of... More

The food is excellent - a wide selection of tapas on the menu, plus you can pick some specials from the glass display. The place was buzzing even though we arrived early (8:30) - plenty of locals plus visiting non-Spanish business types plus some tourists. The staff were very helpful and patient with my minimalist Spanish - the waitress spoke... More

Situated in the Salamanca quarter. Ask for the tapa plate. 20 perfect tapas in a authentic tapa bar.

On a recent trip to Madrid we had both dinner and lunch in the restaurant upstairs. Both times the food, service and ambiance were excellent. The prices are not bad either. Very much worth a visit if you want to eat well whilst in Madrid. There is also a nice bar area and downstairs they have a taverna for tappas.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
