Very Good Dinner

We ended up here because the restaurants nearby having higher Trip Advisor scores were full on a Thursday night. We ordered Veal's cheek and duck for main dishes and deserts were creme brulee. Dishes looked good and tasted excellent. There were no potatoes with the Duck which was a small downside. Maybe waitress would have suggested some kind of salad... More

I have thought long and hard about this review. I was going to entitle it 'Foodies: avoid this place' because that is my message. We found the place by chance, walking past the previous day. I read the latest reviews here which were almost all good. The place looked attractive from the street so we booked online for a Friday... More

Was here at the end of december with a group of 5. We have visited a lot of restaurants in Madrid and agreed that the food was very well prepared and more modern/original than in a lot of other places. But how horrible unpersonal was the staff: we had to beg for attention every time we wanted to order or... More

We were unable to dine at our first choice in Sevilla so we went to our back-up. We were told everything was prepared fresh daily and judging by our experience, this was true. When we arrived, around 2:00 PM the place was not very busy but that did not last too long. The service was excellent. Our server helped with... More

This restaurant is a real find, much more interesting than the usual Spanish restaurants in the area. For example, the gazpacho is served with a small shrimp ceviche and sorbet. My wife and I both had fish and the tuna and mer luzia were both excellent. Service was exemplary. Highly recommended.

My husband and I loved this restaurant. The complexity of flavors and textures was so thoroughly crafted. Highlights for us were most certainly the grilled octopus appetizer and the red tuna entrée. The addition of an apple sorbet to the gazpacho modernized a dish that we had eaten in so many restaurants across Spain.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
