We have visited the restaurant for a late lunch and have enjoyed it immensely. The food was expertly made with outstanding quality and taste. Service was kind and welcoming, and the restaurant environment was pleasant and relaxing. Certainly this was our best culinary experience during a week long visit to Madrid. Especially recommended is the Ravioli de foie.

The restaurant is located close to Tirso de Molina square in an ancient building that used to be a palace. One of the oldest remaining civil buildings of Madrid. This is a Napolitan restaurant with Napolitan cooks, so you have kind of the real Napolitan thing. The staff are friendly and eager to attend our requests. And concerning the meal:... More

It was an good italian restaurant, but not excellent. We ordered two appetizers, burrata and caprese, and they were ok. Then we had a caramelized onion and beef on a bed of macaroni, and the buey de mar spaguetti nero, which were also ok. They were good, but not out of this world. Overall it was a nice experience because... More

The only good thing we had was an appetizer. The pasta we ordered was too oily & tasteless, n the steak was simply horrible, hard to eat, super fatty & also tasteless. We asked for a wine list, they didn't have one with the excuse that they rubbed out of a lot of wines due to the holidays. The service... More

We just ate at this restaurant on Christmas Eve. The staff was so friendly. She explained everything to us in English. The food was fantastic. My husband had the veal with a cacao and chestnut sauce and he gave it two thumbs up. It's off on a side street but definitely a great find!

The main highlight of Ristorante La Piperna is its pasta. Very nicely prepared, but somewhat expensive for what it offers. I liked the food and the desserts and overall it was a good choice. The ambiance is also nice with some good music !

Centrally located near Puerta del Sol. Professional and friendly service. Authentic Italian, with largely imported ingredients. Good selection of Italian wines. Salads were very good. Pasta was just OK - not exceptional. Ambiance is unremarkable. If you are in the area and in the mood for Italian, this is a quality alternative. Otherwise, not worth a special trip to seek... More

Nice restaurant out of the center from Madrid. The quality of the food is very nice as well as the service. The prices are above average. It was disappointing for us that they served 2 basket of bread with 1 or 2 slices maximum per person and charged us without notification Euro 2,- per person. Total Euro 16,- for bread!!!

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
