This place opens earlier than any other in Plaza de Santa Ana and offers a good selection of spanish hams and cheeses, freshly squeezed juices and good coffee.
After trying great places in Santa Ana like Lateral, we decided to try something different (although we did see that Cinco Jotas rarely got as many customers as Lateral or others). The entire evening was a disaster. The service is very rude, even more than normal in Spain and the staff is clearly unprofessional as they dropped a fork on... More
Initial service - slow. Waiter - unfriendly. Glass of wine - very small. 3 of 4 dishes - average. Final dish - cold. Waiter - now even more unfriendly. Wait for the bill - 20 minutes. Cost - overpriced. Return - never! If you are in the region of Plaza de Santa Ana and want a quality, reasonably priced lunch... More
The worst service I have ever had. We sit in one of the tables outside in Santa Ana square and I just couldn't believe the waiters' behaviour. They didn't say a single word to us during the whole lunch (I speak Spanish btw) not even a smile, they were just rude and made us feel really uncomfortable. They brought 3... More
Ate here last night as my favorite place Lateral, opposite restaraunt was full. This place is terrible. The food is ok. The service is dreadful. I am by myself on business and so shouldn't be difficult to serve me and get my order right. They royally screwed it up and then as none of them can speak English...hmmmm...they couldn't correct... Cinco Jotas had about 6 locations but this is Not chain food. Specialty is Iberian ham from puffs raised organically in pastures eating acorns. We had only main dishes but desserts looked good as well. A favorite of at least some locals! Don't miss looking at charming mural that looks like it is straight from a folk tale, and at... More
Great location right on the Plaza de Santa Ana with view of the renovated hotel ME Reina Victoria. I was a bit surprised by what looked like vapor shooting from the ends of the large umbrellas that shade the tables from the sun - turns out it's now become a custom all over Madrid - jets of water to moisten... The only thing these guys have going for them is their location. But in terms of food, it is a total rip-off. Nowhere the kind of tapas Madrid is famous for, esp. when you pay what you do for the food. And the less said the better about the service. The staff really couldn't care less if you have a... More
Had the fixed price tapas menu for dinner with a couple beers and it came to 61Euro for the two of us. The tapas were fine, though nothing special, but the portion sizes were very small. Lots of litter blowing around the tables and overall it didn't feel special in any way. Give it a miss.
