Superb food, great atmosphere, service could be better!

We had two meals here. First we stopped on a Sunday for lunch and were lucky to get a free spot. The place was packed, and many people were unfortunate to have to leave. The food is spectacular! Grilled veggies, with so much taste and a perfectly made steak! Good wine! Not cheap, but also not... read more

I'm a bit of a pizza snob and I've searched far and wide in the Sol/Asturias/Cortes neighborhoods of Madrid for authentic Neopolitan pizza that's not glistening with oil or just completely tasteless....and the pizza at La Mucca is the best I've found! Nice light crust, good cheese, just really yummy and fresh tasting, and a generous size. As for service,... More

Great atmosphere and locals queuing out the door to get a table let us know how good this restaurant this was. Lovely meal that was great value. Decor was lovely and my mojito was delicious

Nice setting, good food but really bad service. Every your question is taken as a nuisance. It's made very clear to you that the waiters are very busy. I don't know, maybe my broken Spanish was a problem... But over all, not a nice experience.

We went to this restaurant after visiting the Prado Museum. It was small and bustling, with a casual atmosphere and cheerful waiters. We loved the Gazpacho soup! I made the soup my main course with the crusty homemade bread. Excellent!

We enjoyed super pizza and salad here. Just what we were looking for after a very fun Segway tour. Our guide recommended this restaurant and we loved it.

Happened upon la Mucca by chance, being drawn by the outside terrace full of happy diners. A cheerful waiter welcomed us and quickly had us settled at an inside table in the heart of the action. The place was full to bursting, but we quickly served drinks and our food order taken shortly. Soon we were tucking into delicious salads... More

If you get tired of Spanish restaurants with waiters who let you linger over your food and drinks, definitely check out this place. Your whole meal will be served fast, fast, fast and you will be out that door in no time. Even though it was all moving at warp speed our meals arrived cold with the cheese sauce hardened... More

We are sorry that your feeling was so negative. It is not tour intention to turn tables , on the contrary, what we want to offer is a pleasant and calm atmosphere in our place. It is true that the manager should control the service but we agree with you that this may not be at the expense of the... More

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
