Having had my family over to visit me in Madrid, we wanted to have some cocktails and a bite to eat at one of the nice and welcoming places "plazas" in madrid. we ended up getting some space at the cafe milano on plaza matute, quite in the center of the city, vibrant and lovely square. that's the positive part... We had such a great time in Madrid and as a matter of fact were discussing how we had felt quite safe and people had been helpful and the prices were great. Then we came across the Café Milano. We were just looking for a drink and some nibbles to keep us going until we got a taxi to the... More

FATAL!!!... More

AVOID going here for anything. We were just looking for a place to have a drink after a late dinner and it was in a busy plaza. The older lady (who never smiled the whole time) set up a table for us, but spoke no english at all (not that that is an issue usually), but we asked for glasses... More

Stopped at this place as it looked comfortable and the food we saw looked good. Prices were high, though Service was ok. We had three options for menu and had difficulty understanding the differences, but got our order placed and enjoyed our food. Just expensive, which is the norm for Madrid

It's a lovely sunny weekend in October, you're in the old town and you'd really love to eat lunch outside. Unfortunately, thousands of other tourists and Madrilenos have the same idea and, by lunchtime (ie 2pm), every outside table is full, so you either cruise the streets in the hope of finding someone leaving a table, or join a queue.... The square in which the cafe is located is nice. Unfortunately this is a place we will not go back to. For two tinto de verano we ended up paying an extortionate amount....not that we saw a bill or change! The middle aged woman who works here (or runs it) cleared the tables by throwing stuff on the ground. Any... More

They ripped me off and I am a local. I had an argument with the lady because she charged more than was due. I didn't get my money back. The little food I had was good, and the plaza is very nice, only these people make it worse because they trash it (instead of cleaning the table the lady threw... More

Foreign tourists who'd like to pay lots of money for food they've never ordered should go to Cafe Milano in Madrid. We ordered drinks and food and according to the pricelist we had to pay around 45 euro. But the Cafe Milano-staff have their own calculator and showed us a 68 euro-bill. After a long and heated discussion we paid... More
