Very good food

Very good fish! Very thanks to chef! Interesting working time as for people who not from Spaine: from 13-00 to 16-00 and then from 21-00 to 00-00

La Parra was recommended by a local as "special" , it delivered. We enjoyed a delicious meal, lovely wines and the atmosphere was fantastic. Given it was a slower night, during holiday, we did get the sense the staff was ready to go home, so don't take the latest reservation time, as you might feel a bit rushed. However, on... More

Six of us went for dinner last night. The menu is a type of fusion international with a Spanish twist. The highlight of the starters was the Toyota soup. Really excellent. For the main course the fish dishes were the best. Three of us had the tempura cod which was delicious. Service was good and we were not kept waiting... More

I've been with few guests at this restaurants a couple of times. Good and fast service, great jamon and good food. The tartare was the only plate that didn't thrill me so far. As the establishment is small I reccomend to reserve a table in case of a weekend visit.

The concierge at our hotel recommended La Parra for dinner our first night in Madrid. We wanted to eat at a characteristically Spanish restaurant and this was an excellent choice. We were the only tourists in the place which filled up with locals by the end of our meal. They did have an English language menu which was most helpful.... More

Sorry to parrot so many of the reviews but this is a lovely restaurant. Very comfortable and stylish without being fusty. Excellent food and wine list. The suckling pig is a must. Two tips. You need to make clear whether you are ordering a starter each or sharing in the Spanish way. Some of the starters are big portions and... More

No negatives, all positives really. Comfortable and classic good restaurant. Only curious comment to make is that the hanging lights are relatively close to the table... Not a problem unless you and your guest are both very tall!

la Parra is a very comfortable, beautiful place to dine. Service is good but a few smiles would be welcome. The Popeye spinach salad was fresh and the suckling pig "cochinillo" melted in your mouth. The wine list was excellent. One of these places where everything is just right so much so that there is just a bit of magic... More

Overall very good food. We shared a few appetizers such as jambon, some type of cheese (possibly manchego), and croquettes. These were all excellent. My main course was bacalao, which had a sauce that was a little too heavy and dull. A few of my companions had the steak which got very positive reviews (indeed one in our group had... More

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
