The praises for Hugo and his restaurant have all been said in previous reviews. This is a storefront restaurant with plastic and formica tables and chairs. And arguably the best food in Madrd. On our two visits, unless you arrived at opening time, 8:30, you could not get a table without a reservation. And even with a reservation, sometimes you... More

We found this place near our apartment and it was simply amazing. We had chilled soup which was extremly tasty and some tapas which were beautiful and mouth watering. Recommend to everyone.

We visited the restaurant on our first night in Madrid. The food was excellent and the proportions were just right. Between the two of us we tried four dishes, the rabbit, potatoes, goat cheese salad and clams. Goat cheese salad was our favorite, excellent dressing.

Absolutely superb. Recommended by a business colleague we waited until it opened at 8:30pm and managed a sneaky table for two amongst the loyal bookings. We had delightful guacamole to start with - even though I don't love raw onions it was good alongside the banana crisps. Fajitas and patatas bravas were delicious - don't let the ketchup spread confuse... More

Found this restaurant on Trip advisor and it completely lived up to its reputation. We called to book half an hour before and it was a good idea as it is a small and very popular restaurant that gets full quickly. The staff were SO friendly and helpful taking the time to find out where we were from and going... More

I generally hate agreeing with people, and following the herd. But this place deserves all the great things people say about it. How can another review make any difference in swaying or even confirming opinion? Why even bother adding another rave notice? Indeed, why make it even harder to get a table here, once word meets critical mass, and it... More

We went in the afternoon, not knowing that this place is only open in the evening. We went back on a Friday night for my son's last meal in Madrid. WOW, what a place. We took TA contributors' advice and got there early to wait for a seat. We were one of the first in at 830, and by 9... More

Everything was absolutely fabulous. Creative, fairly priced, Owner very personable. A memorable meal. We didn't have a reservation. Showed up when the restaurant opened and lucky for us a table was available. within 30 minutes of the 8:30 opening every table was occupied. Will be back in Madrid in a month and will definitely be going back to Gastromaquia. About... More

We walked in Friday to see if there was a table but it was full 15 minutes after they opened, so we reserved a table for the following evening. If you want to be sure to get a seat, you need to reserve. When we left Saturday there was a queue outside. It is a very small place, English is... More

We had dinner there our second night in Madrid with 2 vegetarians. We are New Yorkers and used to good food. When we first arrived I thought the place was a dive. Then we were seated. The service and food were wonderful. the flavors different from any we had eve had. The waiter was delightful and extremely helpful. This restaurant... More
