Tapas with a Twist

An unexpected tiny spot with a nice, bright, fun, casual setting. Food was some of the best we had while in Madrid and we also enjoyed a nice bottle of Spanish wine at a very reasonable price. Service was quite good - as we finished a plate, another would arrive. The beef tartare, goat cheese... read more

Phenomenal food and fantastic service! I'm going to say that we got the table next to the door and my heart sank initially but once the friendly waiting staff got going we could not care less. I would have been happy eating on the pavement with the standard of food we got. We ordered a nice bottle of Albariño and... More

A great little place off the beaten track that offered an amazing Menu del Dia, that was that little bit different to the rest of the tourist seeking places. Super friendly staff and a great ambiance really made this a perfect meal. The food quality was superb and the wine excellent. We want to go back and try the normal... More

This is one of those restaurants where you wish could could simply eat more. You will have read from other reviews what's on offer - and all of it is delicious. We happen to have gone on the first night of their new location - right next door to the old location. The setting is bright and clean. The atmosphere... More

Me and my partner went here around 10pm to dine. When we got there the restaurant didn't look like much, but we went in. We were greeted by very kind staff. The menu was personally explained to us as it's all in Spanish. The food was amazing, the service was amazing. Can't say much more. Try the ribs when you... More

I chose this restaurant based on trip advisor review. As many review expressed this restaurant was great, we loved this place. Although we didn't have reservation, we were lucky to have a bar table. As soon as we sat, waitress was kind enough to explain menu in English. With her thorough explanation, we were able to choose easily. Food came,... More

We came here on a Saturday night without reservation, yet we were lucky and they seated us at the counter. This place has a very original selection of dishes and tapas which we enjoyed. For starters we had tuna tartare, guacamole with fried banana, and for main dish fajita with meat and mango sauce, as well as rabbit meat. All... More

When we came at the restaurant it wasn't open yet. The owner was so nice to open it earlier for us. The welcome was really nice. We didn't speak Spanish but they were so kind to translate everything for us. Were were with 3 adults and we took 4 tapas. It was more than enough. The tapas were amazing and... More

I chose this from the Tripadvisor app on Madrid. Despite it being just one tiny door down a side-alley, it was easy to find with the map. I arrived at 8.30, as it was opening. Just as well, as 15 minutes later, they were turning people away. There are only about 10 tables. The owner explained all the menu and... More

I was recommended by one of my friend who visited earlier and enjoyed the food. So it was an easy picking for my dinner. I went twice because food was really good. Small restaurant, you will never notice the little jam behind the main street. Totally enjoyed the food. I heard the clams are good, but not a fan of... More

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
