Good food and great atmosphere

The service was professional and the food and drinks arrived quickly. We ordered the combo dish of 10 pinchos, all of which we enjoyed trying, some with interesting mixes. These came at 20€, which is good value for money. The grilled octopus was tender and delicious. We worth a try if you enjoy... read more

Wife wanted to go to Cava Baja street...hence we did, after numerous readings of menus, sort of pushed the party in. Sat at the bar, the first great feeling was they looked at us and treated us as locals. This was the start of a night of "tapear" or bar hopping. They have different things every night that they offer... More

Cava Baja is a restaurant street, fully living for the nights but there are plenty of places open at lunch time as well. I went to La Camarilla at March 2015 - after walking a couple of times forth and back the Cava Baja. La Camarilla is splitted to two different parts (same entry from the street, though): bar for... The food was really nice, Spanish with some twist. The waiter was very nice. We highly recommend this restaurant at Cava Baja.

We have long been fans of la Camarilla - it never disappoints. Feels fresher post refurb & one of favs in barrio / cava baja. Great tapas at the bar, and seating for carta / menu which is Spanish with a twist. Good wines always but now decent selection of craft beers. We'll be back.

After 2 days in Madrid near Plaza Mayor we were tired of the typical touristic Tapa Bars and we're looking for some real food. Strolling through the Latin Area down Cava Baja we found this cute place with a huge bottle beer selection including craft beer as well a Guide de Michelin recommendation. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.... More

Place is more spacious that most around the area, with the restaurant and the tapas bar, so it's generally easier to find a spot even in busy days than it is in that part of the city. Tapas are very tasty, and generous in size, and they have a big collection of artisan beers. Atmosphere is cozy, on the quiet... More

We tried this place on a busy Sunday at 3pm. Many other restauarants had no space but we managed to get one of the last tables here. There is a tapas bar on one side and the restaurant on the other which is reached through the bar. It had a good "buzz" with a mixed crowd of mainly locals. We... More

We took a good selection of the tapas, the cheese ones were the best. We drank the stout been that was on tap, very good. All in all, tasty and fair priced.

This restaurante is cozy and a little different from other restaurants in La Latina. It has two sections, the Tapas bar and the restaurant. Service was good, mid-priced. Food is ok, I went twice and food was not as good as in the first time. Overall, we enjoyed it.

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
