Our friend mentioned that Txirimiri serves Basque, or at least Basque inspired, dishes. For my introduction to the style I was impressed. The restaurant is a Tapas bar with very friendly staff. The food was all delicious, and the price quite affordable. Txirimiri will definitely be on my list of return restaurants.

Perfect for Tapas and Drink. Must do in Madrid! We had the Beef, the Goat cheese salad, the Bacalao and a special onion tapas that tasted delicious. Don't hesitate but go!

food is good, not amazing, but it's obviously very popular, as it's hard enough trying to find somewhere to stand, never mind sit.

It's a small and simple tapa's bar. We could taste some of the cold and hot "pintxos", and all of them were delicious: "croquetas de jamon with truffles", "solomillo con pimientos and caramelized onions", and specially the one with "avocato, tomato and anchovas". The salad with guacamole and lagostin tartar was also great. I don't recomend this restaurant for those... More

Went on hotel recommendation the first night - downstairs is a standard restaurant room, but upstairs along the bar is where the action and fun is. Cosy seating bar style, friendly staff and they went out of their way to find someone who spoke english for us. We enjoyed our meals and loved the service, selection and wines so much... More

It's sad that this place so be, in our limited experience, so head and shoulders above the rest. It's also one of the few places which -- and maybe some people will disagree -- serves rather more in the English-Spanish style, ie, where you can have a variety of smaller, less expensive dishes rather than just full-on raciones. I wouldn't... More

Went here on a recommendation from a friend - it was so delicious we ate here twice and wouldn't hesitate to return multiple times on another visit. You can't order wrong but be sure to try the fois la plancha; secret iberico; and rissoto.

I visited the outlet at fuencarral. The pan fried foie was out of this world! Set on a crispy toast with a slightly tangy and sweet fruit compote glaze, the balance in flavour and texture was phenomenal. Generous serving of the sinful foie makes this the top dish we had! Their totilla was not bad as well. The lentils soup... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
