Visited the rock as an alternative to taking an infernal cab up the hill to view monkeys being erm monkeys. Back to the rock... The reception were pleasant and helpful but it took an age to get served. Needed 2 reminders. The gin and tonic was ok the price for two gin and tonic and 3 Lemonade was 15gbp. The... More

Absolutely lovely food, well presented, perfectly cooked, speedy but not rushed service. Not too pricey, with a set menu or al a carte. Nice wine choice and not too expensive. Main hotel and subsequent restaurants being refurbished. No air con, are at the pool side one evening where the atmosphere was lovely, same food - watch out for those monkeys... More

The Rock is a wonderful hotel which is redolent with period detail and atmosphere. Yes it is very much in need of updating but it is in the middle of what seems to be a fairly comprehensive programme at the moment. Whether it would have been wiser to close and do it all in one hit might be debatable as... More

Over priced, very very slow, antiquated, dirty cutlery and crockery. Huge black fly's landing on breakfast buffet cereals(no covers), general grubbiness

We loved it all, they are having a lot of refurbishment going on, but that didn't effect us very much, the food was excellent, and truly good value for the money. Get a taxi to take you, the step slope up to the hotel takes your breath away. A big thank you to all the friendly staff at the Rock,... More

Staff were really nice and friendly. The food was very good but we felt it was rather expensive for what it was The Bistro Bar had a very good selection of meals at a more reasonable cost.

The breakfast included in you stay is very good and the service excellent they do scrambled eggs but will do fried or poached if you request them. Had a light snack in the bar and it is the only place I have been where there was enough toast for the amount of pate normally you run out and have half... More

We considered staying at the rock hotel for our recent gibraltar visit, but due to the abundant remarks about it's desperately needed refurbishment decided to rent an apartment instead. Out of curiosity that we may have missed out on some fabulous nostalgia and for a possible future stay we went to the hotel for a drink one afternoon. On our... More

Waiters there at the XMAS period were very old, surly and tired, we had to wait ages between courses, the feeling I had was that they did not want to be there at XMAS. There was one young blonde waitress who did her best to make up for the rest of the team.
