The restaurant and staff were correct, but we expected more. The cuisine could be more genuine and fresh. The quality/price ratio was not very favorable.

After doing the Camino we got married in La Corticela, we had 24 guests come from Ireland for the wedding. We had the meal in this restaurant. The standard of service we received was top class. They rearranged the restaurant seating plan, took no other bookings for the night, arranged to have their English speaking staff brought up from their... More

We have had this evening the most wonderful dinner at Carretas restaurant. The food was exquisite and very fresh. The lady looking after us learnt English at Salamanca Univeristy and was fluent, a delightful person with a lovely smile. Having had a very dreary October day weather wise, this restaurant brightened up our evening and we will remember this visit... More

We decided to eat at this restaurant following a recommendation from a local rather than dining at the busy places nearer to the cathedral. In a word the food was excellent. I had the seafood platter that was beautifully presented and contained a large quantity of various shellfish. My fellow travellers had paella which took 20 mins to prepare but... More

We ate here mainly because we couldn't get a table elsewhere but sometimes a restaurant is empty for a reason. It's quite a posh place with very attentive service and a slightly old-fashioned decor and ambience. But the food was really appalling. My husband had grilled gambas which were really gritty and I had cod which was swimming in oil.... More

Local fresh seafood simply prepared. Very tasty. I was introduced to something new -- Pecebe, translated to English it is Barnacles, but not the kind found stuck to the bottom of a boat. It is a very delicious shell fish, taste like the ocean. Fresh grilled bay scallops on the half shell was yummy also. The best dish we had... More

Attention is almost everything, when entering this restaurant most striking is their attention, apparently typical of the region, not only good care is important, the menu are very good and especially the pulp a la Gallega of course.

It´s a centrally place restaurant for tourist who are looking for seafood (not galician most of the times). The meals, in general, are fine, but this restaurant is not my favorit. You can find another much better very near: the Enxebre at Costa do Cristo (this street is just in front of Carretas restaurant).
