In a city of eating places this place clearly has history on its side... great stonewalled room and solid wood bar with a rustic feel, service is good from uniformly black apron-ed waiters, a variety of good wines served by the glass. Busy with visitors a plenty. The perfect tourist restaurant... now almost a cliche. The rustic has become rusty.... More

Great food recommended by hotel and it did live up to it's expectations. The grilled octopus was fabulous and the service was brilliant. Would recommend a visit.

We had heard and read a lot about this place and couldn't wait to get there. We arrived right when they opened and we were seated immediately. It definitely has great atmosphere and the wait staff could not have been nicer. The house wine is good and the prices are decent. We decided to try several racions. We were very... More

Excellent food. Best to book ahead as it is very busy. Good choice of traditional Spanish food with delicious sauces.

Our first meal in Santiago was here. We spent 10 days in Spain and had flan at almost every meal. The flan here was the best. We enjoyed two meals here and both were wonderful. Lots of locals and pilgrims. The downstairs dining room is beautiful. Our waiter was very helpful and even though we tried ordering in Spanish he... More

Loved this place! Great atmosphere and decor. The service was very good and most importantly the food was excellent! Had the best cheese board I have had in Spain accompanied by an inexpensive (€10ish) bottle of lovely wine. Monkfish was beautiful and it was just a very enjoyable experience. I think reservations are necessary!

Really nice place. Try diary menu (not saturdays or sundays) of fresh food for about 12 euros. People working there are really nice (thanks Suso for all!)

Following other reviews on TA we ventured to Dezaseis. It is in one of the small streets on the edge of the old town and when we visited in January 2014 there were extensive roadworks. Please do not let this put you off as you would miss a treat. I was most impressed with the sommelier who gave us some... More

This Galician city is known for its "polperias", restaurants and taverns that cook octopus. I was lucky to be in town for "octopus season". Dezaseis prepares it simply, deliciously, and you can taste the ocean in every bite! Roasted potatoes accompanied this dish. The house wines are Mencia and Rebeiro, both regional and must try. I chose the almond tart... More
