What a pleasant surprise!

Being this restaurant is near the cathedral, you would expect to get ripped off, but nothing could be further from the truth. The food was spectacular! Really creative, delicious stuff. The atmosphere was very original and charming. Go. You won't be sorry.

We checked out Casa Marcelo for lunch after a friend recommended it-- wow! We took the chef's recommendation to allow him to choose our dishes, and we were glad we did. I typically don't like raw fish, but I thoroughly enjoyed both of the raw fish dishes he prepared us. The house speciality of potatoes with lardon and egg yolk... More

Upon entering I was a bit taken aback by the furnishings. I’d expected something else after reading the rave reviews. There were no real tables and chairs but a sort of counter with bar stools. At first I was a bit put off – I’d wanted comfortable seats after a long day of learning Spanish at school. But we forgot... More

We found this restaurant by coincedence as we were walking around Santiago. We let the chef decided our meals and it was fabilous! One of the dishes was scorpion fish which was really good. Afterwards, we heard that the restaurant had a Michelin star a few years ago. That explained a lot! The Cook had a real passion for food,... More

My wife just finished the Camino Frances and we also wanted to celebrate our anniversary so we decided to go here for dinner and avoid the more generic restaurants in the area. We had no idea what to order so we left it up to the chef- ended up having one of the best meals we've ever had and definitely... More

We found this amazing place on our last day for lunch before flying back to the UK. Its hard to find words to praise it highly enough as all the recent reviews have already done that. The staff were superb and it was a real treat to be able to sit overlooking the kitchen watching the love and skill with... More

We came into Casa Marcelo, 5 of us without a reservation. The chef offered to make us a tasting menu and he catered to our different likes and dislikes without hesitation. The food was spectacular - the best we had in 35 days traveling Spain. The wine - Marcelo wine - was also delicious. I cannot say enough good about... More

We ordered a three-person tasting menu, with seven dishes to share... all of us are seasoned eaters of Gallego and Asian food. Casa Marcelo did not disappoint, they did not miss a beat, food-wise! We sat along the bar and watched the men slice fresh tuna belly and dip-fry whole red perch. Every dish was artistically presented (the scallops with... More

Lots of highly interesting servings - raw seafood, lightly processed and cooked to perfection. The staff was really friendly and nice from start to end. Truly worth a visit.
