I visited this restaurant twice on a recent visit to Santiago de Compostela. For an evening meal, I went upstairs to the restaurant and ordered from the set meal choices for the day (Menu). The "vieira gratinada" for the first course was delicious. For my second course I had "paella." Although it is not one of the specialties of this... More

The fish was very nice. Service could be increased with additional help. The waiter was very friendly, helpful and spoke very good English. As in many Spanish restaurants, it was very noisy with extremely loud diner's. It's part of the atmosphere when dining in Spain.

A two level building with a nice tapas and bar on the lower level, and more formal restaurant upstairs. Had dinner upstairs with a nice paella for two, ensalat mixed and cheeky rioja for 62 euros. Good tasty food, great service. In some ways the tapas bar below is even better value, I reckon the food comes from the same... More

We barely checked in to our hotel before catching a bus into town and walking up from Plaza de Galicia. Just off the Cathedral square was Rua de Raina and we saw their sign just as the heavens opened. My brother ate here a couple of weeks ago and that was enough incentive to give them a try. We dithered... More

We had wanted a paella and had read previous reviews. We got to the restaurant as it was opening and our timing was perfect. Our waiter recommended the Clam and Octopus starter which was a delight, the Paella is for 2 and was beautifully prepared. As our meal was coming to an end a table arrived and there were about... Great food and atmosphere. Particularly enjoyed the fact that we ate on the 1st floor, with a window view over the little park outside. Staff were super friendly and helpful (we were there with our 1 year old daughter). Definetly worth a visit if spending a few days in Santiago

Near the end of the holiday we struck pay dirt. On one far corner of the same plaza as the Restaurante Barbantes stands the discretely tucked-away Restaurante San Jaime. We stood outside scrutinising the menu, liked what we saw and decided to wait a while for it to open. When we asked for another table to be prepared for us... More

By Plaza de Galicia, this restaurant was a very good choice. It did not seem too touristic and the food was great. Staff spoke English and were knowledgeable.

I usually go there after a tour visit and some customers love the place as well for the atmosphere, the great and fresh razor clams or just to have a beer with friends.

San Jaime is on a side street, Rua de Raina and worth walking around to locate it. They have an outdoors restaurant facing on the park, and an upstairs dining room. The service was prompt, the meal worth the stop. We had fantastic paella. The waiters pretended to understand my terrible Spanish, and were fun to talk with. The prices... More
