Pulpo alla gallega was excellent, octopus with a paprika based seasoning, as were the Padron peppers, moreish, salty and with the Russian roulette aspect of whether you'll get a spicy one or not. This is a rustic, popular spot. We stood at the bar two nights on the trot, and ate and drank well. There is wine from the barrel... More

Amazing house white out of a barrel and into little ceramic bowls. The homemade empanada is delicious. The pulpo was divine.

“O Gato Negro” means “the black cat.” This picturesque and reasonably priced restaurant near the Cathedral is said to be oldest in town, and it looks it. The floors are of the same stone blocks as the pedestrian-only street on which it is located. The tables and chairs are falling apart. The restrooms are from another era. There is only... More

A very cozy, full of people and excellent restaurant! As soon as you get inside you will find Manolo the owner, taking care of you, always smiley and so helpful in choosing the best dishes from the menu which is full of only fresh seafood and very reasonable prices. It's a friendly place, you can make friends and spend a... More

The Black Cat is One of the oldest tapas bar in Santiago de Compostela(which. you can tell by the old and tired decor). You will find It in the old streets nearby the Cathedral, with a Black Cat sign hanging over the door. Trying to go through It can be challenging , due to the big amount of patrons and... More

Went to this place based on the good reviews, shared a wonderful 3-racion dinner consisting of percebes, pulpo and berbercheros + the local almond cake dessert. Add a couple of beers and a bottle of seriously good wine and 50euros makes this a great value restaurant. Great service, only downer was having to wait 45 minutes for a table.

As mentioned by many reviewers this is a locals restaurant. It is not posh in the slightest but I did feel a little intimidated at the first visit because we didn’t know the ropes. In fact it was very welcoming and we were greeted like old friends when we returned for a second night. The food is excellent very tasty... More

We have our own black cat called Black Pudding, who has somehow wormed his way above me on the family hierarchy, so we were keen to go to this restaurant just for that reason. However, let me begin by saying we didn't manage to eat here for the reasons as follows. We were there over a long weekend and O... More

Prepare yourself before you go - this is a very small, no frills place - but that's what makes it great. I ate at the bar - had a beer and empanada. Food was great, waitstaff was friendly. Locals were eating on both sides of me at the bar, so validated it was a great place for lunch. Wish I... More

We had heard about Gato Negro from other Camino walkers and so we were there when they opened at 8. This is a lively bar scene, not an elegant restaurant, but with good food. We had a pitcher (jarra) of white wine, served in bowls. The mussels escabeche were great, as was the octopus. The real revelation was the empanada,... More
