Traditional Galician cooking in a typical old-man bar

One of the best restaurants in the old town, and for this reason it is always PACKED with people so expect to wait a good 15-30 minutes for a table. Once you do sit down, make sure to ask for a "xarra" or pitcher of the house Ribeiro white wine, which they serve in cute little "cuncas" or white... read more

Good seafood, traditional furniture and friendly rapid staff. Place is a bit noisy and has uncomfortable chairs, but it's part of the experience.

If you want a chi-chi place, this is not for you. This is almost a spit and saw-dust sort of place, but do not let that put you off. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is fantastic, and although many tourists might imagine that they are avoiding the tourists by coming here, the truth is that the place is so... More

Well, where to start when a meal provided so many firsts! This place is like no other I've been to. It's a totally unreconstructed very basic no frills whatsoever place, dedicated to serving great food, mostly seafood, simply but superbly. We arrived at around 8.30 and were told we'd have a 20 minute wait so we hung round the bar... More

Very traditional, crowded, lively restaurant. An interesting experience where you can eat local food cocked in a simple but tasty way.

I wasn't quite sure what would await us behind the green door, but what we received was a warm welcome and some truly excellent seafood! The restaurant's decor and furnishings are basic to say the least; none of that mattered due to the convivial atmosphere here, packed with local customers - recommendation in itself!

This informal tapas bar seems to be the focal point for gathering of locals and tourists --- a must, the locals say. The tapas are truly excellent and the informality lets you meet others indulging in the same pleasures.

Yes it is cramped, yes it is busy, but its such a terrific experience. Forget what you thought you knew about shellfish and order the clams and cockles. These go perfectly with the lovely white wine that is served in bowls for 50 cents!

One of the few authentic, decades-old bares that you can find in the very center of the old city of Santiago de Compostela -otherwise taken over by new, lacking character, tapas joints which I would avoid like the plague. This is a place where the locals go. Amazing genuine Galician tapas. The chocos in black ink are sensational, and the... More
