One of the best in Coruña

It is a very good restaurant. You have to try the "tortilla de Betanzos", its something absolutly amazing (if you like almoust raw egg) Then the star dish... "Carne Assada", wowwww 6 hours in the oven and the knife goes like if it was butter.

The ambience in the restaurant feels quite nice. There is a winter garden area, with the view to the square and the city hall. The good point is that they have a menu in English. The starters we ordered are very delicious: garlician soup, garlician peppers, and the famous pulpo (octopus). The main course we had was the Monkfish in... More

Fantastic location in the heart of Plaza de Maria Pita. The slow roast - and very reasonably priced - Carne Asada is very special. My wife and her family are from Galicia and we're equally impressed!

Penela is in the corner of the main square and as such I assumed it would perhaps not be as good because it would play to visitors more than local people. This did seem a bit the case as it was busy very early (2100) but yet it was certainly not a tourist trap or anything of the sort. The... More

Went on a recommendation from a friend in Madrid and were not disappointed. On Sunday night we went to the Taverna da Penela and on Monday night we went to the original La Penela since the Taverna was closed. Both had the same menu but Taverna had a slightly less formal venue. Don't forget to ask for their juicy Betanzos... More

Try the Pimientos do padron, mejillones rellenos, and the famous tortilla de Betanzos! As dessert the tarta de almandras. Great!
