My husband and I and our 4 year old daughter were passing through Girona on a day trip and happened upon this tiny restaurant with lovely tables outside lining a lovely little corner with a view of the street that was just perfect. We were pleasantly surprised to find them open, as it was about 15:30 but they were very... More

The restaurant is nicely located in the old part of the town. The interior is cozy and pleasant. With regard to the food, some of it was quite good, some did not meet our expectation. The Mediterranean fish pot with mushrooms turned out to be less exciting. Service was friendly, though difficult to reach at times, which was amazing as... More

I was visiting Girona with my husband, two grown up children and teenage daughter when we came across La Penyora. Old fashioned from the outside and quirky and modern inside, the staff were helpful and the chef himself came to take our order. The snails were amazing, veal tataki wonderful, foie gras melting, rabbit delicious. Little appetisers were very tasty... More

On a recent visit to Girona (Catalunya, Spain) my wife and I had lunch at la Penyora where we were joined by a couple of local friends. It was the first day following the end of the "Temps de Flors" festival, and a number of restaurants were closed that day. La Penyora, however, remained open and offered its "Temps de... More

Each time I have the chance to visit Girona, I make sure I dine at La Penyora. I became a fan of their kitchen from classic dishes to touches of fusion - all dishes are mouth-watering. Service is efficient & friendly. Decor changes depending on which artist is being invited to expose. A good recommendation!

Nice place, friendly staff, food was fine, but oh so slow. The kitchen obviously couldn't cope with the demand - the place seemed full

I wanted to eat Catalan and I have not been disappointed. Delicious starter with snails in tomato sauce, chorizo and bacon and for main, a great filet of local beef in a reduction of Porto served with liver .... just mouthwatering... I finished with pear in wine and spices served with a vanila ice cream. Nice jazzy music on the... More

We happened upon La Penyora, checked it out on Trip Advisor, which had good reviews, so we gave it a try. Had chicken with pine nuts and prunes, a rabbit dish, an interesting salad with pears and chesse. All delicious, with good service.

Found via TripAdvisor and greatly enjoyed. Very easy to miss as the exterior does not shout 'restaurant'. We ate the 15 Euro lunch time menu and loved each dish presented and also appreciated the little amuse bouche provided. The staff are friendly and helpful. The decor is funky. Great atmosphere and excellent value for money. Thoroughly recommended
