Worth seeking out

This restaurant is up a side street behind the municipal building. We had ate there on many previous trips to Girona and we were very lucky to get an early seat without a reservation. The owners were present again and very hands on as usual. The staff and the good are excellent.

Owner confirmed himslef our reservation for 8 persons on Nov 15th 2014. On Dec 31st 2014 we went for the 3rd consecutive year to Gerone ( frome Montpellier France ) . At night we moved to the restaurant . Owner and his wife even not polite told us that reservation confirmation was'nt done by ourselves. After a long discussion we... More

Went with a group of friends during a congress in Girona. Had been recommended this among a handful of others. Nice and cozy atmosphere, and the personnel truly makes you feel welcome. And what´s just as crucial, the food is excellent, and the price level is reasonable. Try this one, if you travel to Girona, it´s worth every Euro :)

Came across this through serendipity: it was raining and not far from my hotel. I had a lovely meal with good service. This small restaurant with some seating outside is decorated with art which changes often apparently. Its ambience was further enhanced by what I thought was an excellent selection of suitable music. The food is essentially Mediterranean in style... More

Having just spent nearly three weeks in Catalunya we ventured to Girona for a visit and had lunch at this brilliant restaurant! The chef was very kind to come out from the kitchen and translate the 'menu of the day' for us. The ambience, friendliness and superb quality of the food made it the stand out meal of our trip.... My husband and I and our 4 year old daughter were passing through Girona on a day trip and happened upon this tiny restaurant with lovely tables outside lining a lovely little corner with a view of the street that was just perfect. We were pleasantly surprised to find them open, as it was about 15:30 but they were very... More

The restaurant is nicely located in the old part of the town. The interior is cozy and pleasant. With regard to the food, some of it was quite good, some did not meet our expectation. The Mediterranean fish pot with mushrooms turned out to be less exciting. Service was friendly, though difficult to reach at times, which was amazing as... More

I was visiting Girona with my husband, two grown up children and teenage daughter when we came across La Penyora. Old fashioned from the outside and quirky and modern inside, the staff were helpful and the chef himself came to take our order. The snails were amazing, veal tataki wonderful, foie gras melting, rabbit delicious. Little appetisers were very tasty... More

On a recent visit to Girona (Catalunya, Spain) my wife and I had lunch at la Penyora where we were joined by a couple of local friends. It was the first day following the end of the "Temps de Flors" festival, and a number of restaurants were closed that day. La Penyora, however, remained open and offered its "Temps de... More

Each time I have the chance to visit Girona, I make sure I dine at La Penyora. I became a fan of their kitchen from classic dishes to touches of fusion - all dishes are mouth-watering. Service is efficient & friendly. Decor changes depending on which artist is being invited to expose. A good recommendation!
