The entrance is rather unprepossessing and decor serious and muted but otherwise unremarkable apart from the interior being slightly dark through absence of natural light. I chose the Wagyu (Kobe) fillet of beef as my main course (see pic) and have to say it is the best steak I have ever had anywhere, ever. I started with the wild mushrooms,... More

This is one of those restaurants where you go and enjoy an evening with a set menu. It is elegantly served, delicious dishes of the region and season. We chose Massana because our other preferred restaurant was closed for a week. In the reviews I had read some critics about restaurant not having windows; this had put me off. But... More

simply superb is how I would describe Massana. It's not a cheap night out but every now and then it's worth treating yourself. It lacks a bit of atmosphere but the stunning food ensures you don't dwell on that for long.

My wife and I dined here recently and enjoyed the full tasting "Gourmet" Menu. "Snacks" and "Tapas" portions of the menu were truly excellent and the highlight of our meal here. The "Dishes" portion was also excellent but somewhat uneven. I felt the Yogurt Foie Gras and Duck Magret selections were excellent, while my wife particularly enjoyed the Buffalo mozzarella... More

If you are just going for the food experience you will not be disappointed but I did not really enjoy the atmosphere as the restaurant itself is tucked away in a back St and there are no windows so I found it a bit like eating in a hotel lobby, the restaurant was very quiet and it lacked music and... Having eaten at many great restaurants all over the world , Massana really was a revelation ! A stunning set meal, with real innovation at every turn and impeccable service. The pre-dinner tapas were excellent, and the Foie Gras Yogurt with cereal pieces sounds strange but was superb. The wine choice matched the food and for a 5 course meal... More

Sublimely excellent Michelin Starred restaurant in the city of Girona. The food was totally stunning with exceptional inventiveness and attention to detail. The presentation of the food, the wines and the staff all exceeded expectations. We enjoyed a 5 course tasting menu in the chef's private room- what an experience!

A very good place to eat. No scenic view, no outdoor. Excellent wines. Just go for itself, no marketing and so on. Personal service old fashion.

On a recent visit to Girona in Spain, we asked at our hotel how long it took to get a reservation at Can Roca. The desk clerk said 8 to 12 months! But he added that Massana was generally described as the second best restaurant in town and was accessible, so we made a rez and walked over. The food... More
