Enjoyed the tasting menu

The tasting menu had some interesting snacks, eel, duck, quail, squid, truffles and other delights. I particulSauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, rosa, several reds and a sherry all were superb. This as a great way to start off our trip to Spain.

The food was fabulous and the wine pairings were lovely with the menu. The restaurant has no windows, and the table layout makes the place feel uncomfortable, particularly with the staff being rather 'stand-offish'. Granted their English was much better than our Spanish, but we still felt as if we had intruded on them. Worth a visit just for the... More

As a connoisseur of the restoration world, I have to say that for being a 1 Michelin star restaurant it's very surprising. On every moment that you don't expect anything else, they appear with something, small details that make the difference. To say a bad thing, the chef is too much time outside the kitchen and goes a lot to... More

A large group of us came here for Dinner. We had a private room (with private entrance!) and a set menu. What was nice was the Spanish twist...it was a tasting menu but with Tapas style starters (Sheep Cheese spheres,...). For the main courses there was Tuna, Hake, local beef,...They had chosen locals whites and reds which were both very... More

After eating at the best restaurant in the world the day before (my opinion, currently number two on the list) I was very excited to eat at Massana, It has a Michelin star to signify excellence and from the other reviews I was expected to be wowed by another gastronomic master piece. Unfortunately this was not the case. We arrived... More

Arrived in Girona at the edge of lunch service. Fortunately a table was available at Massana. Creative food with friendly, Chef involved service.

The entrance is rather unprepossessing and decor serious and muted but otherwise unremarkable apart from the interior being slightly dark through absence of natural light. I chose the Wagyu (Kobe) fillet of beef as my main course (see pic) and have to say it is the best steak I have ever had anywhere, ever. I started with the wild mushrooms,... More

This is one of those restaurants where you go and enjoy an evening with a set menu. It is elegantly served, delicious dishes of the region and season. We chose Massana because our other preferred restaurant was closed for a week. In the reviews I had read some critics about restaurant not having windows; this had put me off. But... More

simply superb is how I would describe Massana. It's not a cheap night out but every now and then it's worth treating yourself. It lacks a bit of atmosphere but the stunning food ensures you don't dwell on that for long.
