One of my favourites in BCN

This is the second time I visited Cata 1.81, and it was just as good as I remembered it. Cosy atmosphere, nice staff, good selection of small and tasty tapas like dishes for a fair price. I can highly recommend this place.

We found this restaurant in the Lonely Planet guide and were sold as soon as we read that there was a taster menu. It wasn't a difficult place to find but we wouldn't have stumbled across it/found it otherwise. We had the taster menu with 7 tapas, 2 desserts and 4 glasses of wine (cava, white, red and dessert) for... More

This place was recommended in a Lonely Planet guide of Spain and it was just right on the spot. The place was very cozy/small (I guess you will need a reservation). It was Monday and we had to do it. There is a tasting menu that you can order for $30 EU, but we decided to go for the tapa... More

This understated little bar/tapas restaurant offers beautifully conceived and artistically presented dishes with a variety of excellent regional wines. Service is excellent and prompt. Prices are very reasonable.

Really lovely tapas, clearly where locals eat and lots of them seemed to be having this good deal - 30 euros each for 7 tapas and 2 puddings (each). Staff were lovely, good ambience, kooky little restaurant with great wine selection and a perfect evening. This should definitely be higher up the ratings - not your usual tourist tapas at... More

I come to Barcelona only once a year, but this is nearby, and it has never failed me. Last year, they did a tribute to Katz's pastrami, in my neighborhood on the Lower East Side, NYC. This year it was the gourmet hamburger, in New York or London style. They offered an Asian tapa. It came in a white cardboard... More

Everything went wrong at Cata 1.81. As a restaurant owner, I did my research and was quite excited to take our party of 3 here on a Saturday night. I made a reservation for 3 and it was confirmed via email. It was for 23:00. We showed up and they had no record of the reservation. We decided to wait... More

When you enter a restaurant and are surrounded by locals that, to me, is good sign you are going to get great Spanish food.....this did not disappoint. Made a last minute reservation to try the seven course tasting with pairing of wine and was fun and tasty.

We had the tasting menu (7 tapas, 2 desserts, 4 wines, 40€/person) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was very good, with nice deviations from the standard tapas you often see. The wines were local, harmonised well with the food and really wore excellent. The waitress was very attentive, always bringing new wines and tapas at the right time (but... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
