Great seafood paella blocks from the beach.

Cheriff serves the best paella we had in Barcelona. The rice was well-done with a smoky flavor and plenty of seafood. The restaurant is small and cozy with a delightful, if somewhat kitschy, decor. The walls are dark paneling festooned with pictures and random nautical tidbits - a... read more

My family and I took a dinner there and the food was really very tasty. Paella, calamars, Sole.. everything was good except the price. We ordered 3 starters ( 2 calamars and 1 Rougets) + one paella for 2 + 1 solle + 2 coca + water = 136 euros !!! In addition the portions were too small Dear Cheriff... More

I was looking for a place serving black paella (with squid ink) and we came across this place. it's in a side street in the Barceloneta area. We had the house paella and the black one, both with local seafood. Paellas are served for a min of 2 people so we shared them. The flavors were good, the amount of... More

I have never had paella before and from the pictures I had seen, I expected yellow rice with seafood. This looked nothing like the pictures but it was really good. The flavour was pretty intense and the seafood extremely fresh. The service was great, but strangely, in a nearly empty restaurant, they sat another couple right next to us. It's... More

Great seafood restaurant. Difficult to book a table. Good Paella. Atmosphere is good but it can be pricy depending on what you order. All in all, we love the food there.

We were sent away impolitely because we had a very small dog puppy! I don't understand why this city is so much against pets.

Went there with high expectations but never what a dissapointment. We went ther for the paella that is supposed to be the best. Wel, the one we ordered had absolutely no taste at all and so we ended up paying a lot of money for a very bad meal

I usually don't write reviews but do not go to this place if you are looking for "the best" paella. I live in Spain and a friend recommended this place for their paella. It was edible, but very salty. I've had paella about 10 times in Barcelona and this was in the bottom five. Also, the restaurant does not smell... More

We were recommended to eat here from a local. We had amazing paella. Period can't say anymore if you want paella with mixed fish eat here. The staff was so friendly and nice also.

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
