Great seafood, and very traditional!

My husband and I are in Barcelona for a long weekend, and were looking for a nice traditional beach side bar for a lunchtime tapas. We found this little place, which prided itself on it's seafood. We were provided with olives and bread whilst we looked at the menu, which were free when it came to... read more

We went there 2 times and it is the best place we found in Barcelona. The menu is affordable and delicious. The service is good and the view beautiful. If you do not want to a risk, this is the place to go.

This restaurant is very well located by the sea in a very comfortable setting. However parking might be an issue. Food is not even acceptable by catalan standards. Service is very good but will not compensate the rest. And the icing on the cake, prices way above local average. So all in all, very poor value for money. There are... More

The food is excellent, their reputation is well earned. Service is not so good. Had to wait for waiters, dirty toilet, greasy, slippery terrace floor, horrible music from some portable music device. At these prices one expects food and service to be good. Monkfish vermicelli paella good, seafood and fish starters good.

We celebrated a birthday lunch with friends because of the great prior experience in the other Cal Pinxo at the Plaça Pau Vila. Although both restaurants are managed by the same company quality differs extremely. 1. Location is great, just a few meters by the sea and a good and comfortable set up. 2. Service was very slow, inattentive and... More

Love their paella, fast and tasty. Also their fried squid is great. Watch out for pricing - per person for a paella; but I hear it's common here. Service ok, nothing to rave about.

The rest was good. Paella was nice...and a little priced up but reasonable value for thr quality. Service was okay.great ambience on the waterfront. And a service charge £3.98. Overall okay. I recommend coming but ask for the price of extras and drinks! It was fresh juice - but way overpriced - same thing in madrid the other day was... More

Very nice outdoor dining by the beach. Food was good in general but I'd advise against ordering the scampi as it wasn't that fresh. Waiters were excellent. They made an error in one of our orders but took care of that immediately once we brought it to their attention. Just be careful of snack items get placed on your table... More

We ate dinner at Cal Pinxo. For entrees, we had half serves of two mains, which was a nice idea-both the seafood croquettes and prawns were very good. Our seafood paella main was excellent-well flavoured and cooked rice, with generous included seafood. Deserts were a highlight-- a very rich chocolate mouse, and the star of the night spicy tubes with... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
