Nice place but staff know nothing about food there serving.

The atmosphere was good apart from a child watching Disney movies with the sound high enough to interfere with the pianist. We ordered appetisers and starters both came at the same time. For main I ordered oxtail Stuffed with fois gras ,but what I got was lamb it even had a piece of rosemary... read more

I never like to give 1 star as I think there is always something positive I could mention. The only positive hung I could mention is that my partner enjoyed his carpaccio other than that it was an expensive disappointment. The restaurant is a little tired and in need of a revamp but after a long day and with it... More

A very smart meal in wonderful surroundings. For gourmet style food it's on the more reasonable end of the price range (we paid €25 each for 2 courses and drinks). When we were there a live pianist was providing pleasant and unobtrusive music and we enjoyed the 20's decor. The only major complaint was the surliness of our waiters, which... More

We had a lovely meal at the El Gran Cafe in Barcelona, the pianist was quite good too. It was a great atmosphere. Worth a visit to this restaurant if you end up in the Gothic quarter like we did.

What a find! Just wondered into this beautiful place in the Gothic area and it will go down as a highlight of our trip to Barcelona. Our waiter, Joseph, went above and beyond expectations. The food was authentic and delicious -made with love The flavours exploded in your mouth We don't normally have dessert but could not resist - the... More

With it's vintage art deco style interior, El Gran surprised us in more ways than one. The dishes we tried were good; shrimp tapas packed with flavor as well as the potato tapas with a delicious spicy sauce. Good wine selection with staff that was eager to please customers. El Gran manager went out of his way to show us... More

We were walking around looking for a place to eat lunch and picked this place because it looked a little nicer than the average place in the area and did not have anyone out front pressuring you to come in. The menu of the day is a a bit more expensive then other the other restaurants nearby, but we were... More

old shabby chic 1920's restaurant in Barcelona old town, off the Rambles. Have eaten here several times over past few years and always enjoyed. Went with a cousin last night and we were not disappointed. Food was well cooked and beautifully presented. We had a choice of 3 differing menues, a la carte, set menu and chef's choices which had... I was looking for one of my favorite restaurants from previous visits. It was closed. So I was on my own, without a guide. I was near Las Ramblas. This makes finding a decent restaurant a bit more difficult as the majority are set up for tourists. El Gran Cafe was the first restaurant with table cloths that I encountered.... More

We made a reservation here last minute and were pleasantly surprised. The room is large and had a piano player up on a mezzanine level who was very good. The service was great and the food was very well prepared. Try the paella!
