How can bread + tomatoes be so good?

A week in Barcelona, and Paco Meralgo was easily one of my favorite meals. After eating pan con tomate over a dozen times across Spain, Paco Meralgo's was by far the best. No contest. Spending time in Barcelona without eating at Paco Meralgo would be a shame.

Really amazing tapas here - the tiny lamb chops were amazing, the patatas bravas were heavenly (and VERY spicy- yumm!). The shrimp was fresh and perfectly cooked. The croquettas were great and do not miss the stuffed zucchini flowers. It was nice to be in a place where there were many locals, just hanging out. The only downside is that... More

We visited this place for the first time about one year ago and have not stopped coming back everytime we return to Barcelona. Paco Meralgo is a great place for tapas. The place is very popular so make sure to reserve ahead of time. The prices are reasonable for the quantity and quality served. The chicken croquetttes are great. You... More

This restaurant was fantastic! It was expensive but the tapas were great; I don't think we had a bad dish the entire meal. The steak bites were amazing so don't pass those up!

Good food, a classic tapas place for evening hang out. You should try the crema catalana for desert, one of the better ones.....

The venue is popular and I like the fact that it's off the beaten track. All the tapas we had were fantastic, and it's got a very authentic feeling to it as it's not a massively touristy place. We went on a Sunday and there plenty of locals.

This was our first meal in Barcelona and we loved it so much we came back again the next day for dinner with our friends! We were able to gt a seat for lunch without a reservation and were seated on the bar counter. We ended up ordering the Obama Croquettes, the Butifarra Revoltillo and the small fried squid and... Great Quality Food and Service - Try Super Spicy Patatas – difficult to get a table if you just show up – might need to wait 30-60 minutes but it’s worth it – good ambiance and big tables for bigger groups and possible to eat at the bar. Many good dishes

We ate here in January 2015. The food was unbelievably oily and of not much taste. The place has deteriorated a lot in the past years. We had much better food/tapas in the city. I will not return.

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
