Your best food experience in BCN

We have lived in BCN for about 6 months and have eaten at many restaurants including michelin- star ones and have experienced at La Estrella our best meal in BCN so far. La Estrella is a little restaurant located in a dark street next to estacio de Francia. Not too impressive from the outside but... read more

We chose to eat here on the basis of Tripadvisor recommendations but were very disappointed. There were very few other diners and these were business men. The waiter was pretentious in his descriptions of the food. Once he realised we were only after a light lunch without expensive wine and a 3 course meal, he lost interest in us. The... More

We accidentally turned up late for our reservation but were still welcomed (sorry La Estrella!). It was a sublime meal with perfect flavours all perfectly cooked from fresh ingredients. We let the owner choose most of the courses for us and there were no misses. It's true that there isn't much english spoken here but we muddled through with pigeon... More

Adjacent to the rail station, down a side street, the neon star marks a place where you get superb sea food. Dried cod dishes are a specialty and the Lovely Companion was very enthusiastic about her duck. Excellent and reasonable wine list, attentive, welcoming but professional service tops off a great experience

My wife and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and thinking about that special restaurant that would be just right for a celebratory meal. And so we planned a holiday that would land us in Barcelona, so we could return here - and we were in no way disappointed. This neighbourhood restaurant is a gem - wife heading up... More

You don't go to this restaurant for the view: there isn't one. Hidden away in a faceless side street, this is a wonderful place for marvellous food. Great service and a maitre d' who knows exactly which wine on his short, modestly priced, list will match your menu. The menu is really outstanding, and the staff evidently care about every... More

I selected Restaurante Estrella based on a review in Culinary Backstreets and was not let down. My wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal that was well paced between starter, main and dessert. Everything was beautifully cooked and the service was attentive without being intrusive. The recommended wine match, a local Voignier, was perfect. Personal favourites was the razorback clams.

La Estrella is a family-run restaurant where you will find several traditional dishes adapted to current times by using innovative approaches. The base ingredients are always fresh market products. The dishes presentation is very elegant also. The staff is very friendly. But one advice: take a look at the menu, decide, but keep your mind open. The moment the waiter... More

this is a consistently high standard restaurant and yet very good value. There are a select number of dishes on the menu all done excellently and they pay special attention to locally sourced quality food. The place is quiet and elegant and the head waiter is fabulous. it is good for both lunch or dinner but personally I recommend particularly... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
