Great sea food, great service. Even though there is a definite tourist interest, the family who runs this restaurant are not jaded. Everything is high quality and you will also be pleasantly surprised by the bill.

On May 13th 2015, we visited this charming local restaurant in Barcelona and I must say it was a treat! We entered the restaurant and asked for a table for 4. We just had to wait 10 minutes in the bar next door after which the waiter came to get us. No nonsense, no fuzz about china or beautiful glasses.... More

This restaurant was recommended by a colleague and it didn't disappoint. The food was just incredible, yummy and fresh. Definitely worth the trip into the neighbourhood to find it. Take cash as they don't take credit cards and be prepared to wait for a table. You share a table with people you don't know and it makes for an interesting... More

The best tapas I've had in Barcelona. The waiter was very helpful in recommending their best tapas. Super good value for your money too. Feels like you're in a real Barcelonean's house.

There's no sign that lets you know when you've found La Cova Fumada, but the long line of people outside is surely a telltale sign you've arrived! Went here with my family of 3 and we ended up ordering enough food for..much more. Everything is cooked simply, yet wonderfully. Be sure to try the tellerines (small clams that are ridiculously... Donald Link told us about this place, and suggested getting here early. We arrived around 10, by the back door. Our friendly waiter suggested courses, and even showed us much of what he had to offer up on the counter. The grilled artichokes were small enough to practically eat everything after pulling off a few leaves--yum. We had gambas and... More

We went here on recommendation and after reading TA reviews although not sure I can see what the hype is for. There was quite a wait to get in as expected and once in it's a real busy lively atmosphere! Tables are shared as its a tiny place and there seems to be always a queue. The place itself is... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
