Something for everyone

While on a fantastic all-day private tour booked through Viator, our guide dropped us off to eat lunch at the Cuines Santa Caterina. He suggested arriving just before 1 pm to ensure that we got a table at this popular restaurant. We were glad we did as the restaurant filled up quickly. The menu... read more

My 21 year old son and I took a long anticipated trip to Barcelona this past June. Although we have each travelled quite a bit before, nothing could have prepared us for the cool, hip palpable energy of Barcelona. We happened upon Cuines Santa Caterina purely by accident en route to a highly recommended Tapas Bar (we never did eat... More

This restaurant is just outside the Santa Caterina market which is a pleasant alternative to the tourist congested Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, Here you can actually get to the stalls and converse with the vendors and buy produce ! Outside there are a couple of restaurants, This one had a good menu - reasonable prices - good... More

A starter of vegetable rolls with sweet and sour sauce was delicious and clearly made to order. As often the case, our main course of seafood rice came well before we had finished our starter. We found only 1 whole prawn ( plus 3 heads without bodies)in the entire dish for 2, which we did not finish because it was... More

Located in a market hall about ten minutes’ walk from La Rambla, this restaurant opens its doors at 1:00 pm (and there is usually a queue). There are eight cooking stations to prepare the food that you select. Everything is freshly prepared and cooked, therefore things sometimes drop off the menu. Dishes come as soon as they are cooked, not... More

This restaurant offers a large choice of hot and cold tapas at the bar and in the restaurant at competitive prices. We went late on a Friday evening, so the restaurant was extremely busy. We much preferred sitting at the bar than at the large, shared tables in the restaurant. Service was efficient but not overly friendly, especially from the... More

It was not planned to stop there but it was a great experience. The tapas were excellent and for reasonable prices. Will go there again.

Great food highly recommend we found this place by accident and it was full of dinners and we where starving. The tuna salad was great along with the oven roasted mozzarella cheese. We had the pasta with shrimp which was less the impressive as we felt it was missing something. The best place I've eaten in Barcelona

Average restaurant...Go here only if you must eat there or are bored of the lovely Spanish tapas restaurants....A bit expensive from a Barcelona perspective.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
