Cheap & cheerful indian style veggy place

Look - when the bill comes to €31 for two people for three courses and a drink, you can't really complain too much, so bear this in mind. A "Hare Krishna" style veggy restaurant with a fixed price menu including a soft drink. The food was OK the service was OK - unusual menu with an indian twist

Very good and big portions in a relaxed and comfortable place. Found it on lonely planet and saved our evenings!

My girlfriend found out about Amaltea so her and I decided to go for dinner. The service, quality of food, uniqueness and overall great experience made this for a wonderful restaurant. Highly recommended for all!

We went after having read the recommendation in the lonely planet. The place is special...we had the menu and while everything is organic and wholefood (which we like) the food was close to tasteless....the algae was awful (might be our taste), the tofu too and the rest was without any souce, spices or fat/oil. If you are looking for pure... More

The little vegetarian food is very good. And the price is low. Not touristic and not spain restaurant typical

Having been highly recommended by Lonely Planet, we walked a very long way to Amaltea expecting a lovely evening. However the food was awful, tasteless and just ....horrible . We were shocked ! I have been a vegetarian all my life and have never been served such dreadful dishes before! We didn't make a fuss because the owner was so... More

The food was very poor with little flavour and not well thought out. Thank goodness that the food was quite cheap otherwise we would have been very disappointed. Having visited other restaurants locally with a similar pricing structure we were amazed at how bad the food was. We recommend that you avoid the food here despite some good reviews in... More

We went, having read good reviews. What an odd little restaurant. It was like going back in time eating here. The menu seemed varied but in fact the dishes we sampled shared many of the same ingredients and were lacking in flavour or texture. It is worth noting that no alcohol is served. There was little or no atmosphere and... More

The menu was great. We shared a started of spaghetti with breads and vegan pesto which was beaitful. I had the curry and my partner had the sweetcorn fritters with the feta couscous substituted for something else because it wasn't vegan. The staff were extremely helpful. The desert was incredible. The chocolate carrot cake was the best vegan dessert we... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
