This is a review of the restaurant that hides behind the tapas bar....and what a hidden gem it is! The restaurant is mentioned as one to go to in our city guide from our last trip to Barca 10 yrs ago...so we weren't sure whether it would still live up to it's then high rating....but it certainly did! We were... More

We enjoyed a great lunch and a few bottles of cava while here one afternoon, the tapas were fresh and delicious at E1.95 each were good value, the staff are friendly and spoke good English and tried their best to describe each tapa. We went as a group and had a ball, I'd highly recommend this style of casual Spanish... More

Stand up bar where you ask for a plate then select what looks good. If unsure ask other patrons or the bar staff. Selections change and recirculated. Great way to sample but it does add up. You pay per toothpick. Did not feel like a meal but great for afternoon pick me up or with drinks.

During a recent trip to Barcelona, we visited Irati for an early tapas. The food and ambience were excellent. The friendly staff were very helpful in explaining the system of counting the toothpicks ! Must try place in Barcelona

This is a review of the front section - we thought the restaurant bit at the back looked expensive. Stand towards the back, though, along the bar. This is where the fresh warm tastiness is brought from. Collect your cocktail sticks, pay for each one. Simple. Avoid the little thing that looks like cheesecake, though. It's a bit weird.. :-/

We had never been to a restaurant like this- we walked in and the waitress could sense our confusion and was wonderful. They had a wide selection of plates with all different single tapas that you could self select. You collected your toothpicks (1 per selection) and that was how they charged you- €1,95 each toothpick. They were constantly bringing... More

On a friend's recommendation, we went for lunch at 1:30 p.m. when they open. We placed ourselves at the far end of the bar inside, so we could get the hot tapas right when they came out of the kitchen. (they rarely make it to the front of the restaurant.) There is a small sit-down area in the back where... More

Ideal place in Barcelone, great when you're done shopping, just pop in, enjoy the pinxos - the best in Barcelona in my mind - and the wine... You pay by the toothpick (1.60€/pinxo) which is a great experience

Little bar in Cardenal Casanas, just off La Rambla and near Santa Maria del Pi. Good variety of tapas and wine by the glass. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. Well worth a visit if you're in the Bari Gotic area of Barcelona.

It was our first night in Barcelona and I read about this place from Rick S. Bottom line, the wife and I stood for several hours to talk to others and eat ourselves to great satisfaction. It is a Basque style affair, with finger food pintxos that were mighty tasty. And even better, the price was reasonable.
