The quality of the produce is top notch

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years. I would recommend going here for the quality of the fish, which is mainly sourced locally (the uni comes from Galicia, the toro from Tarragona, the boquerones from the Mediterranean.) I think the place may not be the most authentic Japanese... read more

Frankly I'm pretty much traveler and once I used to go to Barcelona for business. I chose this one to go to eat and what a disappointment! The food was not as good as more of the reviews of this place are saying! Too long to wait my order while those who come later than me have got their orders... More

I am Japanese living in Barcelona, I was looking forward to eat here at Shunka because everyone has told me it's authentic and everything..... Well,,,,, it wasn't authentic at all! I don't mean to be mean but there were way too many chefs ( non Japanese and ofcause no tradition in their manners at all) very noisy, not well served,... More

I completelly love the shushi in Shunka! It's allways can of full, so you need to book in advance. The toro tataki is the most recomended! Must try

Very bad food and service. We asked the chef to change a plate we didn't like but then we were charged for it. Deceiving from a restaurant of this standing.

This is one of my 3 favorite restaurants in the whole world. It's the best Japanese restaurant I know (ok, koyshunka, of the same chef and two streets behind Shunka, is arguably better, but more ambitious and expensive). Do book in advance or you won't find a table. I have never had a meal that was not just gorgeous.

If you're going for the food, you won't be disappointed. It's beautifully presented, good quality Japanese fare. However what lets this restaurant down is the overly-attentive service - prowling waitresses doing the rounds, assessing the volume of food still left on your plate every few minutes and the microsecond after you have put your last mouthful into your mouth, your... My girlfriend and I went to Shunka the other day to have a meal . I am in love with Japanese food and have to say it was a great experience. We had to book a table as it appears to be quite busy and it is difficult to get a table unless you've previously booked. We got there and... More

Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
