Best real tapas in Barceloneta and nothe the usual pinchos

To eat the real tapas and not something made only 4 tourists you have to come heré. Normally is overcrowded but it's OK, you have to talk with the waiters to sign in the waiting list for a table. Not big, homey and very common. Great atmosphere nice young crowd. Great service and above all great food. Must try. Looks that everything you will order is going to be good. Service is quick and nice and polite staff.

When we arrived in Barcelona our hosts immediately recommended going to Jai-Ca for an authentic, local, tapas meal! Between me and my partner we had about six dishes and a big jug of sangria - and it was all delicious and the sangria got us pretty tiddly! Even though our waiter didn't speak very good English, the menus were in... More

We turned up here for lunch around 2pm on a Sunday on the recommendation of a friend who is from Barcelona. It was absolutely packed - fully of mostly locals I'd say - and we ended up waiting about 35 mins for a table. We had a selection of tapas which although weren't quite what we'd expected were all quite... More

Just order something and enjoy the place. Seafood, spanish food. You will love it. Highly recommended.

Visited this little spot by recommendation in the Lonely Planet. This was place was full of Spanish people which was a good sign. We ordered calamari, patatas bravas, razor clams, mussels and chorizo. It was really good, our food was served closely at the same time. I loved the mussels and the sauce they were cooked in. Yum! Portions were... More

I am a local. The tapas here are completely normal (soaked in oil) and their Spanish tortilla is absolutely terrible. But what is really worth mentioning about this place is their lack of hygiene. Waiters here grab dirty glasses/cups with their bare hands touching the borders where customers sip from, and then they serve drinks to new customers also touching... More

Love the atmosphere of the packed small room, high energy, full of the sounds of people enjoying a lively tapas experience and drinks. Close quarters with neighbouring tables, good quality food and efficient service. Locals are still part of the clientele but jaica is by no means off the tourist track. It is far enough from the ramblas to avoid... More

The address of this small restaurant in Barceloneta was on Trip Advisor and in our tourist guide, so we gave it a go. Very easy to find, very friendly, EXCELLENT choice of fish tapas. We just ordered a table full of tapas and had no complaints at all :)

I stayed in Barcelona for a few weeks and had the privilege to visit this gem a couple of times. Service is great, food delicious and ambiance pleasant. I read some reviews saying that we should keep the secret, but I'm guessing the cat has long escaped from the bag. The place is usually packed with quite a lot of... More

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
