Amazing authentic experience

Great food and great value, strictly locals. Only downside is the incredibly bright lighting, but I guess that is part of the experience! Definitely worth the visit.

Been there with my wife. We have enjoyed some excellent tapas, best bunyols de bacallà we could find in Barcelona. Mostly frequented by locals. Highly recommended!

Definitely one of the loudest places Ive ever eaten at. Food seemed to be very authentic dishes with a mix of rich & dull. Shrimp was too fishy for our liking but we enjoyed the sardines, bread, chorizo, & chicken. Oh and the red sangria had to be the strongest sangria ever... It was great! The rest of the experience,... We had a list of the 10 best tapasbars in Barcelona, and we selected 4 of them to discover : Jai-ca and 3 other : Cerveceria Catalana, Meson David and Bar Morrysom (but closed for holidays) … attention : there are more top-tapasbars closed in the month of August (Quimet & Quimet, La Cova Fumada, …) Jai-ca is situated in... This oasis has been running it's delicious restaurant for years in Barceloneta. Authentic excellent tapas, for seafood fans, this is where to order razor clams, chipirones, grilled calamari, etc. Just remodelled the space, even fits wheelchairs.

After spotting on trip advisor we decided to give Jai-ca a go. We were not disappointed. After a chaotic casual seating plan we were finally sat outside. The food was awesome and the staff helpful. Well worth the walk for fresh tapas at a reasonable prices.

The restaurant is a 10 min walk from the beach and we went there twice. The staff speaks very little english which is a good sign in my book. The tapas dishes are really nice and you can try out some good ones. For two persons with two drinks each and about 6/7 tapas we spent about 35 euros and... More

An amazing restaurant with a high pace and loud volume. We tried a few of the different tapas dishes for dinner and they were all above our expectations. Especially the potatoes that had an amazing sauce but also the gambas that were excellent. They also had a lemon flavored beer that was nice in the heat. Staff was very friendly... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
