Seafood at the Beach

One must have seafood in Barcelona, especially at a restaurant by the ocean. Can Majo is located across from the beach but also has a tented dining area overlooking the beach. Went here with a friend and enjoyed the amazing paella. The starters were delicious too (tomato and mozzarella salad). Very comfortable place with good service. Good location by the waterfront.

This was the most recommended place for paella and for dining on/near the sea. We had a wonderful lunch on our last day sitting on their lovely terrace taking in the sea view and promenade activity. We enjoyed oysters, cava and their signature shellfish paella which was not cheap (compared to other Barcelonetta restaurants) but it was worth it in... More

We visited this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend from Barcelona. The service is not great and the food not that great either. It is a seafood restaurant so unless you are a fish fan this is not the place to try. We had small fried fish for starters and seafood croquettes. Fried fish was ok the croquettes not... More

We joined some friends from Australia at this restaurant which was recommended to us by a local who told us it was particularly known for its paellas. A “complimentary” garlic and tomato bread was provided prior to our starters arriving. This was enjoyable at the time but ended up leaving a bad taste in our mouth - more about that... More

Excellent location on the beach. The food was very good indeed as was the wine recommended by another diner. It wasn't cheap but was the best meal of our trip and well worth the money.

The Paella Can Majo was delicious, and the portion for two was enough for 3. The garlic shrimp appetizer was very tasty, a little spicy. Would have rated the restaurant at least 4 stars if our waiter would have been better. He struggled with English and got confused when taking our order. He probably should have suggested a different server... More

This restaurant was highly recommended by many friends, and we were excited to try it out. Service was slow, the waiter recommendations for quantities was off and we almost left hungry. The Paella was delicious but the quantity for 2 was basically just for one. Food was delicious but quantities were on the reserved side. Service was slow,, we had... More

The restaurant was actually fully book but they got us a table after a little wait, not that that was a hardship when you on next to the beach and have a beautiful view whilst you wait. We sat outside under the umbrella's. Our waiter very helpful and knowledgeable, recommended a delicious bottle of local white wine and we ended... More

Very nice lunch experiense. We arrived to restaurant terrace on 15:55 and did not know that kitchen closes at 16:00. However they let us order food no problem. We ordered seafood paella which was excellent. Also ordered 1 bottle of house redwine which was very good too. Nice place under the cover near the beach. We had very good experience

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
