A must. On the beach

One of the best business dinners I've had. Sat outside and ate exquisite seafood dishes such as Peppers stuffed with basque crab casserole. Friendly wait staff that handled our large unruly group with patience and humor.

When you think in Spain and its food, you probably think in tapas and Paella, but Barcelona is not exactly the best place for Paella, So I asked two local friends and they gave me 3 places (see my other reviews): Carballeira, Can Majo and Caelis. Can Majo's "Paella de Mariscos" (Seafood Paella) was actually pretty decent, is not like... More

This very traditional seafood restaurant in a totally tourist trap area is a gem. Here you can easily choose a wrong restaurant for a dinner, but fortunately Can Majo is an exception. They serve fantastic seafood, several different kind of oysters and all that jazz you can imagine. We took Galician oysters that were fantastic - large and very savory.... More

We left the restaurant with an iphone left on the table.. Unfortunately when we returned 20 minutes later it was nowhere to be found and no one else was seated after us at the table. Clearly one of the employees had taken it and did not return the phone to us. What a shame and we left Barcelona with a... More

We booked a reservation out on the patio. The evening was beautiful with a full moon and great weather so this place basically gets a star just for that. The service was good, not over intrusive, helpful with advice on wine, and plated our paella for us. We started with a shared mozzarella and tomato salad. They serve with both... More

Of course, there are many places in Bcn serving good paellas, but this one is definitely good. Situated on Barceloneta it gives you a nice ocean view, if you reserve a table outside. I had visited this one about 9 years ago, and - believe me - the paella was still outstanding. The service is nice and the prices affordable.

Grab one of the tables under the tent, look at the view, enjoy the food, friends, and fish. An altogether pleasant meal at a good location

So after more then one year far from Barcelonas'paellas we went back and bet on the safe horse Can Majo and we were not disappointed. As said already in previous review, quality of the paella is supreme, probably the best ever tried: the difference is clearly made buy the recipe they use to prepare the fish broth into which they... One must have seafood in Barcelona, especially at a restaurant by the ocean. Can Majo is located across from the beach but also has a tented dining area overlooking the beach. Luckily, we were able to be seated at the beach dining area. There are about 15 tables outside so you should inquire when you make the reservation. I ordered... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
