Fabulous restaurant near Barcelona Cathedral

We were wandering around the Barri Gothic area of the old town and were recommended this restaurant by a local jewellery shop owner. The meal we had was just fabulous, right up there with best we have had. They do half and full portions which is a great idea with a great selection of meat fish... read more

Like any Barcelona restaurant, it gets busy as it gets later. We got there around 9:30, having accidentally stumbled on it during a walk through the alleys and streets of the Gothic Quarter. There were no tables in the restaurant or courtyard so we sat at the bar. Which was perfectly lovely, and very accommodating of them. The service was... More

We had to hunt down this restaurant after seeing some good reviews and it was worth it. Great atmosphere and excellent food. The staff were nice but not very engaging - they were busy doing their job but we werent made to feel especially welcome. Having said that, I would go again as the food was excellent.

The Cafe de l’Academia is an excellent restaurant in the Barri Gotic. Somewhat difficult to find as it is hidden away in a small street/ Placa, it serves up really good food. Great staff, nice interior and lovely food. Recommended!

Good choice of food and all reasonably priced. Waiter was helpful with the choices. They had one female staff member that was quite miserable and we felt she let the side down a little but it didn't stop us enjoying our night. Food was very good and not far short of excellent in our opinion.

Another Trip Advisor recommendation and again an excellent choice. Food was superb, atmosphere was cosy and whilst we went for lunch it would make an excellent place for an intimate dinner. True Spanish restaurant with real good Catalan food, imaginative and well presented. Really good value for money.

We tried another night to find the restaurant and gave up. On our walk back to the hotel we found this restaurant. The next night was New Years Eve so we went back to see if we could get dinner. They only had room at the bar and they had a fix price menu which was fine with us. There... More
