Description: Among the three hundred diners that fill this 30-year-old restaurant every day, you may spot the King of Spain, movie stars, and politicians. Botafumeiro has to be a well-oiled machine to keep all and sundry happy and coming back for more, and it does. The decor is so trad, with wood railings and banisters, white table linens, and nautically-themed art and objets. The menu focusses on the sea, try fruits de mer for two to start, followed by anglerfish fisherman's stew with white beams or one of the barbecued fish, then a dessert of Belgian chocolate volcano with chocolate sherbet. Wine list is an ambassador for Spanish wines.

The place is big and brassy, seafood is king and you definitely know that they have been at this for a long time. The service is efficient and knowledgeable (we were happy that they were able to converse beautifully in English as our Spanish was definitely challenged). Speaking of challenges, the real problem is deciding what to get from the... More

We were recommended the Botafumiero by our hotel when requesting a seafood restaurant with a good paella. Great food in a maritime atmosphere. If you appreciate good quality seafood/paella I would give the Botafumiero a try.

Excessively priced, decadent, poorly lit... An unmissable experience in Barcelona, if you love fresh seafood and don't mind spending a bit for it this is the place to go! Marvellous service and food awaits you, all with a side of an historical place where many famous and non famous people stopped! Great experience!

This iconic seafood restaurant is a must for seafood lovers. It is a very traditional restaurant with attentive service. The menu is huge with many typical Catalan items. When we ordered the octopus as a starter our waiter kindly advised us to order a half-portion given that we were sharing the cold seafood platter as our main. Good advice! The... More

We were recommended by our tour guide and we checked with our concierge in hotel. We were told this is an excellent venue for seafood dining. We arrived and surprise by the size of restaurant. It was busy dinner operation. Menu selection was large and lots of choices. Service staff was very friendly and efficiency. He accommodated our requests for... More

We were recommended this restaurant by our accommodation in Barcelona as a great seafood restaurant. Unfortunately it did not live up to this standard for the meal that we had. It is meant to be a top class restaurant but the wait staff and the quality of the food we were served did not meet this standard. Our order was... More

Excellent seafood and perfect service. A memorable night. The Seafood platter was exotic and well prepared. The Lobster paella was excellent.

I was recommended this restaurant from a friend who ate there years prior. I made a reservation a day prior (easily on their website) and only being myself, I chose to eat at the bar, which I recommend to do. Even though I don't speak Spanish, there was a waiter behind the bar that accommodated me. I ordered a pitcher... More

Supposedly one of the best fish restaurants in town. Quality of the food was indeed excellent, the wine selection however was rather disappointing. I expected a larger choice and the wine list does not include the vintage which should be standard for a high end restaurant. Staff very friendly and efficient. Nice atmosphere. Total price 300 Euros for 3 persons... More
