Description: Among the three hundred diners that fill this 30-year-old restaurant every day, you may spot the King of Spain, movie stars, and politicians. Botafumeiro has to be a well-oiled machine to keep all and sundry happy and coming back for more, and it does. The decor is so trad, with wood railings and banisters, white table linens, and nautically-themed art and objets. The menu focusses on the sea, try fruits de mer for two to start, followed by anglerfish fisherman's stew with white beams or one of the barbecued fish, then a dessert of Belgian chocolate volcano with chocolate sherbet. Wine list is an ambassador for Spanish wines.

Supposedly one of the best fish restaurants in town. Quality of the food was indeed excellent, the wine selection however was rather disappointing. I expected a larger choice and the wine list does not include the vintage which should be standard for a high end restaurant. Staff very friendly and efficient. Nice atmosphere. Total price 300 Euros for 3 persons... More

From the outside this restaurant looks quite unprepossessing but inside it is quite extraordinary. While the fasçade seems small, inside the rooms seem to go on forever. The outer rooms are very busy, lively and quite noisy. There is a room to the rear where we dined which was beautifully appointed, bench seat, bookshelves, lots of cushions and very attentive... Everyone told me that Botafumeiro's days had passed and I don't agree, especially after two wonderful meals. The service was impeccable, the setting charming and the food excellent. The Centollo, the cheapest main course was just fantastic! The seafood salpicon was also great and if you follow it with the house white, you can't go wrong. Still a great place!

Excellent seafood with airs from Galicia, good waiters in a traditional ambience. The price is high but the quality is there, it gets packed so must make a reservation. You will eat well and be served well. The price is high.

My son and I had supper at this restaurant and it was the best meal of our vacation. The food was superb and the service exemplary. It is not cheap but definitely worth every euro.

The food is absolutely amazing. My only regret was that we weren't warned about the size of the portions, they were far too large. We did not need to order a starter and main meal as the starter portions were far too large. The quality of the food was superb.

Ok we weren't dressed for fine dining and they certainly let us know. Good food, not great for price. Service very patchy, went missing at crucial times. Our tip reflected this.

From the minute we were shown to our table I knew that this would be a WOW experience. Elegant, experienced servers, fine dining at its best. Oscar is to be commended as he truly views his job not as a 'job' but as his vocation which is how the finest European servers treat their service in fine restaurants. We began... More
