Description: Among the three hundred diners that fill this 30-year-old restaurant every day, you may spot the King of Spain, movie stars, and politicians. Botafumeiro has to be a well-oiled machine to keep all and sundry happy and coming back for more, and it does. The decor is so trad, with wood railings and banisters, white table linens, and nautically-themed art and objets. The menu focusses on the sea, try fruits de mer for two to start, followed by anglerfish fisherman's stew with white beams or one of the barbecued fish, then a dessert of Belgian chocolate volcano with chocolate sherbet. Wine list is an ambassador for Spanish wines.

We were able to get a late lunch without booking. Ordered the big seafood platter and we weren't disappointed. You need to avoid the tourist type traps like remember to send back the bits and pieces they automatically place on the table or you will be charged. Not cheap but certainly a good place to get your seafood fix.

We were a party of five for dinner, and while the food is very good, it is quite expensive, and service can be low at times, still it is a fine place to eat, and judging by food alone, quite recommended.

The wall is loaded with fotos of famous people who have eaten here. So some fame must be at this place. The seafood was fantastic. We had been for lunch as this is the only meal when the taxicoupons are valid. The service was friendly, efficient and attent.

Although we had a very pleasant server, this huge restaurant makes me feel like Im in Miami Beach NOT Barcelona. The seafood Paella, which its known for was good not great and lacking in all kinds of things that it should have included. There are so many good restaurants in this city; give this a skip.

This place was recommended by a professional, but was, no, no, no good!! When you pay twice-triple to other places you normally should be safe, but not in this case! The fish soup should be a safe choice, but it tastes absolutely nothing! I ordered the king crab. What is a king crab? The restaurant definately does not know! They... More

We went to this place not long ago and found it lacking in ever sense. The food is average, the service is tired and the prices are exorbitant. They are resting on their laurels.

We went twice to this restaurant, before going on the Equinox cruise and after. Both were wonderful, delicious seafood, well served and quite fresh. It is necessary to make a reservation or you risk not being able to sit down as it is usually packed. We were served by a very nice Cuban waiter from Zaragoza. He was able to... More

First of all MAKE A RESERVATION! This place is crazy busy. Open everyday 365 days a year and packed ever night. We are leaving on a cruise tomorrow and I wanted a special meal before heading out. I could not have picked a more perfect place. We arrived right at 8 and the place was bustling. We were seated right... More

We visited the restaurant with a large group in late September 2014. We had originally made a reservation for 6 and at the last moment increased to 8. The restaurant was most accommodating and helpful in arranging for a larger table for our group. The food was outstanding. We ordered several starters to share and they were all excellent. However,... More

My wife and I went based on a recommendation from our hotel. The service and food were great. We had a half portion of octopus and the seafood casserole for 120 Euro, as well as s nice bottle of wine. While the seafood was very fresh and well seasoned in the end the price of 185 Euros did not seem... More
