Among the three hundred diners that fill this 30-year-old restaurant every day, you may spot the King of Spain, movie stars, and politicians. Botafumeiro has to be a well-oiled machine to keep all and sundry happy and coming back for more, and it does. The decor is so trad, with wood railings and banisters, white table linens, and nautically-themed art and objets. The menu focusses on the sea, try fruits de mer for two to start, followed by anglerfish fisherman's stew with white beams or one of the barbecued fish, then a dessert of Belgian chocolate volcano with chocolate sherbet. Wine list is an ambassador for Spanish wines.

Wow! The ambiance, the service, the food! Great! Five stars! We were treated like a royalty ! Came here by advice of my daughter ' friend and what an experience!! Food is great, service is impeccable, the atmosphere of the place is so welcoming and cozy even though it's bright and decorated like a palace. Visiting such a place makes... More

We saw the fish being delivered to this restaurant in the morning. It is certainly some of the freshest fish I've tasted. This is a traditional high end and expensive restaurant. It's really big with a great atmosphere. The front section and bar has more buzz than the back room where we were seated with lots of other tourists. It... More

We came here on our 30th anniversary trip, because a friend recommended to us. De plate presentation was not great but the food was incredible. The black rice with squids, the octopus was very soft and the gambas.

Excellent food and surroundings. Quite expensive but worth it. Cheaper options available on the menu. Stunning interior and decor. Would definitely recommend it as one of Barcelona's high end restuarants.

We celebrated a special occasion here and were very pleased. The staff are all beyond attentive, he atmosphere is upscale, and the food outstanding. What more can be said? We shared the grilled seafood collection which was more than enough for two. The plate includes lobster scampi, prawn, baby shrimp, clams, cockle, cuttlefish, squid, scallop and shrimp. Paired nicely with... More

Ate here as part of the 60 strong corporate group. Naturally we were not going to get an a la carte choice - we were limited to fish or lamb - but the half dozen or so courses that preceded our choice were outstanding and the fish itself was superb. One of the best meals I've had in a long... More
