Nice, local place in Raval area

Went here for lunch. Typical local place which you would walk by if you were not looking for it. I found Can Lluis last night with 10 of my colleagues. Without a booking they sat us in a large room in the back which was nice. The place is seriously local - felt like we were the only tourists. It's not 5 star decour, but has a local charm for sure. I can't say it better than simply -... More

Our family , including two children had such a positive lunch experience at Can Lluis that we returned the next day. This is not the tourist type place to eat . Three generations have served the locals here , including artists and theatre clients who make it their choice regularly for lunch and dinner. Our lunch was a gastronomic experience,... More

A restaurant with great food, ambiance and history. Good staff and friendly. Price is ok. Wine suggestion was also good. I enjoyed myself. Parlla was ver tasty and fresh. Monkfish was nicely grilled and fine herbs.

We were advised by our agent that the Sant Antoni area was now home to several up-and-coming restaurants. Maybe we didn't look hard enough because this was the first half-decent place we found after 30 minutes or so searching. The food was fine if simple, the service good and not intrusive and the ambience - busy but not noisy -... More

The location was recommended by another restaurant owner who goes there for lunch. Given this recommendation and the other reviews it seems as if the restaurant has two sides: good for lunch, mediocre for dinner. Slow service, dark/unfriendly interior, ok-ish food, smell of chlorine / detergent. There's better restaurants in Barcelona, and they're literally just around the corner.

Fantastic oldfashon decoration, looks like a restaurant with history. The food is great too. Typical catalan cousine. I will come back for sure!

As soon as you walk into this special place you feel like you are getting back in time. Special restaurant with that artist feeling around you. Food is great and staff very friendly. We loved the bill too. Thank you guys and owner for the drinks offered. We will certainly be back. Extra cool evening.

After a week of tiny tapas bars, we were craving a sit down meal at a restaurant. We chose Can Lluis from the tripadvisor reviews, wanting to go somewhere away from the main tourist traps. The clientele were mainly locals. Service was prompt and efficient - not a lot of English was spoken but enough to get by. The olives... More

"Confusing" menu. I ordered two plates on separate dishes, and later on i discovered they were in the menu with other names, but same plates and i could have paid less, getting more food to taste... That would have been good to know when ordering, not after... I even felt a bit ripped for this... Service was average, with the... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
