_________________ Taguara Areperia is the place to go in Barcelona for arepas. These South American corn cakes are cooked in the oven and can either be eaten on their own, as a kind of bread (known here as La Viuda - The Widow), or with a typical filling such as "Pabellon", which features fried black beans, cheese, shredded beef and plantain. And if that's not enough, they have 16 other arepa options. These combinations include Venezuelan cheese, chicken, avocado, vegetables and more. Being made of corn flour, Arepas are a healthy option for anyone who can't eat gluten. You can also enjoy typical Venezuelan side dishes, that you would find in any beach, kiosk or 'taguara', such as delicious tequenos (bread filled with cheese), Cuyagua-style fried plantain slices and crunchy fried yuca At Taguara Areperia, you will also find a great range of sweet dishes, such as conservitas de coco (small coconut cakes), golfeados (typical Venezuelan sweet rolls) and cakes of guava and cream cheese. If you're not hungry, then try one of their refreshing, natural juices: guava, prickly custard apple, blackberries, passion fruit, tamarind, lulo, watermelon-pineapple, papelon (raw hardened sugar cane juice) with lemon, strawberry and mango. Taguara Areperia is the place for Venezuelan fast food in Barcelona.

Very good food. Nothing over 5 Euro. It is standing only but well with it. The pabellon in particular is excellent.

I went to this place without realising what type of food I was going to end up eating. Now I have developed an addiction for these southamerican pitas (like my friend call them). Just 2 things to improve: No chairs, really? whats the point. The guy at the cashier seemed miserable, smile people, smlie :-D

They did not have menu in english, so we took what was "the most popular": chicken, avocado, cheese and beef with red beans. It was our first time eating arepas so I have no idea how authentic they were. Anyway, quite good as a midday snack. The atmosphere is not the best and eating while standing was also not something... This was the first time I had ever tried an Arepa and I didn't regret it. We needed to eat somethink quick and that would make us feel full (as we had some tapas but we were still very hungry). We tried the chicken with avocado and we enjoyed it. At firts it didn't sound good that the chicken filling... More

I was very pleased to find a Venezuelan corner in Barcelona. I have lived in Australia for the past 10 years and so this was a wonderful finding. My partner who is 100% Australian spotted the place and he loves Arepas so we had to stop buy and order some. The Arepas are very tasty and we were not disappointed... More

This is the place to go for a delicious arepa. Try the one with the black beans, beef, cheese and plantain. While the arepas are fast and really tasty, the service is not the friendliest. You can eat them there but there is no seating, just tables along the walls where you can stand at with the food. Try their... More
