This is one of my all time favourite restaurants

My favourite restaurant has just got better. We usually eat here every one or two months when we visit Barcelona but for various reasons we hadn't been for about five months. Turned up with a booking at 9pm . The degustation was outstanding . The service was a little fractured at times due to the language difficulty however the owner/head chef? stepped in after each service of a course and explained the dish it really was a special evening and from first course to last really tasty and a enjoyable night... The menu is fixed by the Chef and you leave your senses do the rest...an amazing experience assisted by the rightness of the service for a low budget. The only remark would be on the decoraction, the restaurant deserves a refurbishment to be on the level of the rest.

I somewhere, somehow found out about Somodo while researching Barcelona for our trip in Nov 2014. I had previously read that its a good tasting menu but reservations are needed. I told my sister that I really wanted to hit that spot, and she was really skeptical (who wants to eat Japanese fusion in Spain??), but afterwards, even she said... More

This is an unassuming restaurant that definitely punch above its weight. While decidedly Japanese influenced this is not a Japanese restaurant. It is a creation of the owner chef Shojiro Ochi. He is a humble man who has lived in Barcelona for over twenty years and has taken his Osaka culinary training and melded it into the Mediterranean way of... More

This restaurant is a favourite of family members who live nearby in Gracia. Fortunately they had made a reservation for when I visited them, or we would not have got in. The food was exquisite and beautifully served. They reckon the chef deserves a Michelin star and I agree. I do not understand how people can say it is expensive.... More

Staying in Gracia

Neighborhood Profile
Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theater that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
