Great!

The menu is fixed by the Chef and you leave your senses do the rest...an amazing experience assisted by the rightness of the service for a low budget. The only remark would be on the decoraction, the restaurant deserves a refurbishment to be on the level of the rest.

I somewhere, somehow found out about Somodo while researching Barcelona for our trip in Nov 2014. I had previously read that its a good tasting menu but reservations are needed. I told my sister that I really wanted to hit that spot, and she was really skeptical (who wants to eat Japanese fusion in Spain??), but afterwards, even she said... More

This is an unassuming restaurant that definitely punch above its weight. While decidedly Japanese influenced this is not a Japanese restaurant. It is a creation of the owner chef Shojiro Ochi. He is a humble man who has lived in Barcelona for over twenty years and has taken his Osaka culinary training and melded it into the Mediterranean way of... More

This restaurant is a favourite of family members who live nearby in Gracia. Fortunately they had made a reservation for when I visited them, or we would not have got in. The food was exquisite and beautifully served. They reckon the chef deserves a Michelin star and I agree. I do not understand how people can say it is expensive.... More

We went there for dinner to try the menu which consisted in several small dishes including all entrées, main courses and desserts. A fusion of japanese and local food that had some intrigue in it, like the slowly boiled egg with foie&potato crisps. Mainly a nice experience in a quiet little place, something which is appreciated in a busy +... More

Wow! Cannot be missed. EXCELLENT food and experience. Great value. 2 of us ate and had a bottle of wine, left very satisfied for only 50 euro each. Not to be missed!

Saw the review and decided to give a try at Somodo. Arrived at 1330 but unfortunately it was already fully booked, so we were rearranged to dinner's reservation at 2200. Before serving the dishes, chef came to our table and briefly introduced us to each dish. We couldn't understand Spanish and chef spoke only little English. However, he still did... More

Hard to find a restaurant in BCN where the owner serves your plates and explains each dish in detail. Food is exquisite, bursting with new flavours and very original. This place is so reasonably priced for what you get. There are only a few tables so booking recommended as weekends always full. Will be back!!

Neighborhood Profile
Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theater that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
