Description: In the heart of the Gothic neighbourhood on la Plaça Real, the Mariscco Reial restaurant is located in a Renaissance-style building dating back to 1850. This historic site has housed a diverse range of activity, such as the Gran Cafe Espanyol, and later the Pedagogic Museum of Natural Sciences and taxidermy workshop. Respecting the original architecture, Mariscco Reial offers the chance to dine inside a wide, open space, with high ceilings and eclectic scenery, or alternatively, outdoors under the Plaça Reial porticoes and the lamp posts designed by Gaudi. Mariscco Reial is open all-year-round, and boasts a cosmopolitan atmosphere, with a case of seafood and fish showcasing the delicacies available. Serving Mediterranean cuisine, Mariscco Reial serves high quality, fresh produce, which is prepared to the guest's taste. Specialities include rice with lobster sauce and prawn soup, or the climate-controlled cellar showcases a wide selection of wine.

The food was fresh and you could see what was available before it was cooked. It was all delicious and the service was good. Only thing I would have liked was some veg or salad with the fish.

We spent a couple of hours sitting at Mariscco in the plaza, enjoying some wine and tapas. We had a variety of tapas and all were quiet tasty, though really small servings. The service left something to be desired, as half way through our time there our original server went home, but no one else picked up our table. We... More

Ate here twice in our four day stay in Barcelona and had the Paella both times. We had great service and the paella was tasty. There were two small lobster tails and a couple of claws for 38 euro for two. Wine was extra. Our meal was delicious. The lively atmosphere in the plaza was fun to watch while dining.... More

Ate here on the first night of a stay in Barcelona. Expensive for what was very poor food. We had a plate of 4 shrimps and a plate of cold tasteless octopus. No side dishes and the waitress had obviously been to the service school of "slap the plate on the table and walk away". Location and wine were nice... More

We came here as the tapas looked lovely, was told that we could order some and if we wanted more that would be fine. Went to order more and was told "sorry we've stopped serving tapas. Very disappointed children, had pudding and left a little hungry.

For 20 Euros per person you would expect a decent paella.... However, infact what arrived at our table was what would be considered as a watery Risotto. I'm not sure what was going on but we were given some watery rice and the bones of langoustine - with no meat on. Can someone give Gordon Ramsey a call and get... More

Lovely location for a restaurant, however service is very slow and it is hard to get the attention of the waiters and waitresses The food is very average, quite bland and not worth the money Definitely would not recommend the crab or the cod croquettes

We found this place on our first day in Barcelona. We had the lobster here (one grilled for daughter Boglet and one lobstr paella between mrs Boglet and me). Some drinks alongside came to about €98 - there are cheaper meals to be had but the location of the restaurant and the quality of the food made it worthwhile.

Such a cool idea to have turned an old natural history museum into a restaurant. The Dali statue and baby rhino are a nice theme to tie the history of the place and of the Catalan region together with modern cuisine. The tapas we had were very nice. The location is also unbeatable in Barcelona, Placa Reial is iconic and... More
