Description: In the heart of the Gothic neighbourhood on la Plaça Real, the Mariscco...
In the heart of the Gothic neighbourhood on la Plaça Real, the Mariscco Reial restaurant is located in a Renaissance-style building dating back to 1850. This historic site has housed a diverse range of activity, such as the Gran Cafe Espanyol, and later the Pedagogic Museum of Natural Sciences and taxidermy workshop. Respecting the original architecture, Mariscco Reial offers the chance to dine inside a wide, open space, with high ceilings and eclectic scenery, or alternatively, outdoors under the Plaça Reial porticoes and the lamp posts designed by Gaudi. Mariscco Reial is open all-year-round, and boasts a cosmopolitan atmosphere, with a case of seafood and fish showcasing the delicacies available. Serving Mediterranean cuisine, Mariscco Reial serves high quality, fresh produce, which is prepared to the guest's taste. Specialities include rice with lobster sauce and prawn soup, or the climate-controlled cellar showcases a wide selection of wine.

Reasonable Option in the Placa Reial

Eating on the patio in the Placa Reial is an experience and we picked this restaurant when we didn't want to stand in line at the adjacent Les Quinze Nits (which is better). Located in Placa Reial - the service and the food was excellent. I will definitely visit again on a return trip. I enjoyed the environment - right in the heart of the plaza, and the wine was good too.

For the start, The Entrecôte was quite stiff (At either stage of grilling). As for the rest, the squid was especially good. The service was genuinly nice but lacked in organization. It remains one of the most afordable restaurants in the center of Barcelona, I would totally eat there again.

Had dinner here with my daughter and we ordered tapas. It is a relax dinner but i wouldn't recommend this for a romantic dining. There are too much performers around begging money and lots of bums roaming around while you are eating.

Our friends recommended this restaurant as one with good choice of seafood. A bit crowdy place, it's true. But staff is friendly, and wine is great. We took black paella, and it was also tasty. Desserts are also very good.

The definition of tourist trap. It's located on a beautiful square. The food is horrible and overpriced. I had the prawns in garlic. It comes with four rounds of stale French bread. The prawns are swimming in grease and the garlic was so over powering I couldn't eat it. My husband had the steak with chips. Even the chips were... More

Plaça Reial is such a charming square, you have to treat yourself to lunch or at least a cup of coffee here. We chose Mariscco to eat in because their chairs looked very comfortable. The service was friendly, as was the food ( paella and grilled fish).

In fact this is a rather good restaurant (maybe Tripadvisor should give another possibility between average and very good) if you like fish. The location of the restaurant is great but I don't care much for the interior, especially the stuffed rhino with Dali on it's back didn't do it for me. But don't let that put you off. We... More

Our third night ( and third restaurant) in Barcelona and a lesson learned. 75 euros for two people for a Starter, main, dessert, two Sangrias and a couple of coffees and it wasn't the expensive mains. Food was okay but expensive, service was slow. Waiter was friendly and helpful but it took him five minutes to bring a spoon for... More

We were seated immediately which was good but they were very slow to take our orders initially. The food came out quickly which was good though. We ordered the salmon and sea bass which both tasted really lovely and fresh. We also had the meat ravioli and the spicy potatoes which we really enjoyed. If you like fish this is... More
