...don't gamble with the Denny's-like menu

...ask the waiter what he'd eat (they usually know)...more like 3.5 stars....patatas bravas were tasty, nothing special, but the cold seafood tapas with mussels, imitation crab and shrimp was decent. The chicken paella was flavorful and spicy and the recommended fish (larger than the sea bass but... read more

We were in this restaurant on our last evening in Barcelona. Unfortunately we found La Cala and had the worst food and service EVER. It was really bad service, expensive and impossible to eat. I order paella but it was so salty that I can't eat it even when drinking water. But even worse was the staff and service. When... More

My husband and I love this place! We kept going back for more! The tapas is lovely here and the portion sizes are huge! We also had the carbonara and pizza of the menu which was also lovely! The drink was also excellent and the staff were very nice and welcoming! Our favourite spot in Barcelona for sure! Can't wait... More

My boyfriend and I found this place near or hotel. We stopped because I am a vegetarian and they had something on the menu I could eat. I tried the veggie burger and it ended up being the best veggie burger I have ever eaten. It was a good size portion for the price. My boyfriend had the chicken burger... More

On our last evening in Barcelona we were looking for a beer and a little snack, which should be the perfect ending of our stay in Spain. Unfortunately we found La Cala and had the worst food EVER. It's not only really expensive (e.g. slice of bread with garlic and tomoato beside (!) for 3,55 Euro) but also bad food.... More

Best hot chips with a very decent burger. We went there is winter but the sun was hitting the outdoor area so it was lovely. Great view of the marina

It was our first restaurant in Barcelona. We tried paella here. It was quite tasty, I liked it. I also like fresh juice from different tropical fruits. The atmosphere is rather nice. By the way, one of the waiters spoke russian. I would come there again.

As this was just a stones throw from our Hotel (the excellent H10 Port Vell) and our feet were well worn from a days exploring, we thought we'd give this place a go (plus they were showing the Madrid Copa Del Ray match!) The Pizzas looked good value at just under 10 Euros, so I went for the Cheese, BBQ... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
