Worth the search!

The neighborhood seems a bit shady and the place was a little hard to find but really not a big deal...we walked to it from Las Ramblas and it took about 10-15 minutes. I tried the octopus appetizer. Perhaps not for everyone but I liked it. The blackberry mohitos rocked! My entre was lamb and... read more

Nice small place somewhat off the beaten path. Very nice staf from top to bottom. Charming small restaurant. Food was excellent. Online reservations worked well. Octopus, squid and ceviche to start all great. Lamb, tuna and mushroom risotto entrees superb. Very reasonable prices. We went to very expensive restaurants that did not deliver as much. Will go back asap.

whilst staying at the Barcelona Universal Hotel, we were recommended the Cera 23 10 minutes walk from the hotel, started with cocktails at the bar, prepared by the owner, which were very good. The menu had a good selection from fish , meats, salad. We had prawn starter , shared, then lamb, and steak, excellent. Sweet , death by chocolate,... More

Saturday night, reservation was necessary. Very lively inside. We had gazpacho / pork starter, beef / lamb main, death by chocolate / cheesecake desert. All were excellent. Bread was kept topped up and a complimentary digestif with the bill. Service was very good. Highly recommended.

This was not the worst place Ive ever eaten but it surely was not the best. I would not go back to this place. The people were very nice. However, the food was not. I had black volcano rice and seafood (calamari and shrimp) with a saffron sauce. However, Im not sure they used real saffron in the sauce as... More

This was my second time visiting Cera 23. This time I came with a group of 11. The food and service was excellent, I probably enjoyed it more the second time around if that was even possible. I think everyone who visits the restaurant knows to try the blackberry mojito. We generally covered most of the menu between us and... More

Had the black rice volcano and it was fantastic. We didn't have a reservation but the owners fit us in for a quick meal. Really great, wish we could have stayed longer but we had to catch an evening flight.

Although it can get crowded, the service is fast and friendly and the food is great. One of my favourite things was the enthusiasm of the staff; they seemed to be enjoying their jobs and were always smiling. Although some of the foods such as ox tail (or bull tail- I forget) seemed a little odd, there were plenty of... More

The main course with lamb and couscous was so tender and perfect. The appetizer of ham confit and dessert "muerte por chocolat" was even better than perfect. Cera 23 is good value for money in Barcelona.

I was welcome even though I arrived almost when kitchen was about to close for lunch 4pm)! I ordered quickly and became amazed with the flavor of food. I was treated with great courtesy, like if I was alone in the dinning room, even though it was packed. I fully recommended it. Reservations needed ! Don't forget to try the... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
