Delicious dinner in a cool atmosphere

Great atmosphere, with windows open to the street and a friendly wait staff. The ploughman's share plate was out of this world, as was the grilled haloumi. Would absolutely recommend this place to others visiting Barcelona.

Horrible staff! Worst experience ever! Shame for a cosy place. People who treat their clients so bad should not work in this field. Extremely dirty , lack of uniforms, never come back.

It seems that Federal Cafe should first hand out rules of how to enter and where to sit. If you do not know these rules (god forbid you are visiting the cafe for the first time), then you are treated like an idiot. It's a shame that the staff do not seem to enjoy their work (or people). Maybe other... More

Went for breakfast a few days ago and had the burger, it was good an the gluten free bread was good quality as well. The dark skinned girl and the young man with tattoos were very friendly and approachable, so we decided to go back and try it again for breakfast this morning. The blonde waitress with a fringe gave... More

The service in this place is absolutely horrendous. The staff are rude, inattentive and obnoxious. It's a shame because it would be a pleasant cafe to visit if it wasn't for the horrendous staff.

nice breakfast and brunch place- a bit of a hippie place. But also very pricey for Barcelona. Croissant is very good. Rest average

Great tasty menu of distinctive breakfast meals, service is prompt and yet allow you the space to quietly enjoy the morning paper if you wish. Excellent offerings of a variety of coffees.

To be honest. The café looks nice and the food is good. Unfortunately the personal is arrogant, unfriendly and I will definitely not coming back. I can not understand how somebody could hire this personnel. I would fire both of the unfriendly girls. Specially the one with the tattoos. She forget who pay her income. Sometimes it is good avoid... More

One of the best local breakfasts you could have in Barcelona. It's got that tattooed hipster with macbook pro thing going on but don't let that put you off - the food is excellent and the staff are cheerful and friendly. Get here early to grab a window seat and enjoy a coffee over a peaceful courtyard before the city... More

The staff are super friendly, the waiter sat down with us to take our order which I found incredibly amusing. The iced coffee is delicious and v creamy but uses minimal milk? WHATS THE SECRET??? Food is great too, have a blast !

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
