When we visited Tapeo it was very busy and we were lucky to get seats by the bar. We tried Catalan calamari , Fried Rabbit ribs with alioli and “Pincho moruno” of lamb with mint yoghurt. Everything was super tasty, the calamari is a must! To drink we had several of the Cava sangría which we found to be really... More

Okay, everyone can recommend all the restaurants they want in Barcelona, but I just experienced one of the top three (if not the TOP!) dining experiences of my life (and I have eaten a LOT!)... First of all, I cheated my way in by saying I received a reservation confirmation that I had not actually gotten... they looked confused for... More

The food was great. Best thing by far was the eggplant. Overall the atmosphere and food were worth the price. Best meal I've had in Barcelona. The jamon may have been the best I've had.

We found this tapas restaurant by chance, but it was the greatest meal we had during our stay in Barcelona. The eggplant with honey tasted incredible, grilled octopus was great, prawns were fresh and tasty, Patatas bravas and Cava Sangria was the tastiest among the other restaurants we went. Definitely recommended but if you make a reservation before going, it... More

We stumbled into this place because it looked nice from the outside. The waitress was far from welcoming and the food was even worse. The 'potatas bravas' was like under cooked french fries soaked in ketchup, the tortilla was also under cooked, the 'crisp of padron peppers' were over cooked and far from crispy and 'bombeta de la barceloneta' was... Glad we had made reservations as it helped us to skip the half hour waiting -which we would never have done anyway- and go straight to our table. The food was great ... some of the tapas are traditional stuff like exquisada but done in a very new, modern and delicious way, some others we never found on a menu before.... More

We were originally going to El Xampanyet which was too crowded and were lucky enough to stumble across Tapeo and took the last two seats at the bar. The service was prompt and all the tapas we ordered was delicious. The two stand out dishes were the beef cheeks, I have never tasted any better anywhere else, the octopus and... More

Me and my husband just spent 8 days in Barcelona seeking for traditional flavors that would give us some happinness and bring us close to the Catalan culinary culture. Well Tapeo although is a very very crowed place you can't get distructed as the food is gorgeous and keeps your concentration in food vivid! As we are both cooks living... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
