The Ideal Nieghborhod Restaurant

We ate here three times during our stay in Barcelona and neither us nor any of the friends who ate with us were ever disappointed. The menu is small and a bit eccletic -- hard to know why there are two dishes with kangaroo. We never sample the roo but tried many other things -- steak, turkey leg... read more

This place serves good food and place is perfectly located in middle of Born neighborhood. The lunch was tasty and there are also great choice of tapas. Although little minus is that they seem to serve cheesecake as dessert almost every day at the lunch. They have good size terrace at the plaza. Went to this place at least ten... More

Great spot for lunch. Good lunch special menu of the day. Sat outside for great people watching! Carrot ginger soup, mussels, salmon and skirt steak were delicious.

A Barcelona-based French work colleague/friend suggested that my wife and I meet her at El Atril for tapas and drinks one evening. It's one of her favorite spots. We enjoyed a great time together seated outside in the small plaza. Very good service. Very good food. A wide assortment of local tapas. Prices very reasonable. Recommended.

Restaurants in Barcelona can be tricky on Sundays, since it's not unusual to find them closed. Also, our first Sunday coincided with La Merce, so restaurants that were open were sometimes quite full. Wandering through El Born, we came upon El Atril, which had been well-reviewed on Tripadvisor, so we thought we'd give it a go. They offered a Sunday... More

Just a very nice friendly place to sit outside & have some very good tapas. The artisanal beers are also very good.

Hi, We've picked up this restaurant last evening and I think it was one of the best places so far in Barcelona. It's very nicely located - plus there were street performers that made the meal even nicer. The food was fantastic - really tasty. Also the service was very good. Very recommendable!

In El Born. Good range of tapas/starters and main courses. Relaxed layout and lighting. Really helpful and pleasant waitress. Highly recommend.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
