Whilst enjoying a cheeky 4 nighter in the Expo we checked on Trip Advisor for nearest reputable restaurants and Zarautz was pick of the bunch. I understand that, as a foreigner, I have no other references of Spanish food and in particular of Basque food.In my opinion the food they serve here (typical Basque , I was told by the staff)is absolutely delicious and while it is not a cheap restaurant , you cnnot say that it is expensive since the food is so good.I... Wouldn't do it in public, but the potatoes with cheese and a small amount of sausage was to die for. Served in a lovely little red casserole. Other outstanding items and we only had 8 pintxos were the pork with roquefort, the mini-hamburger, best meat I have had in a burger, and the croquette of pork and chicken. We're going... More

This was a great find. The food was very traditional with a great selection of tapas and a good choice from the menu, you know it's good when it's full of locals.

The restaurant was recommended by the host lady of the appartments we stayed. And it was definitely worth a visit! Very friendly staff explained all the pintxos we ordered in english. Food well presented and very tasty, Many Locals dining in the Bar. Too bad WE were to full to test the desert. Will try next Time.

We followed the advice of FriendsEat.com and set out to Zarautz for lunch. They have a great bar set-up with cold items available for taking family style while also serving hot items off a menu. The staff was great - bilingual if you need it - and it was uniformly excellent. In particular, anything with any kind of sausage stood... More

Really enjoyed the food. You have to have the orgasm by chocolate - it does what it says on the menu!! I had duck, my son had chicken and my partner had lamb. Came to about Euro 80 for three courses. Only criticism was that my duck portion was quite small, so I wished I'd had eaten a little before... More

Fantastic meal and excellent value wine. Recommended by the hotel for somewhere local to eat and ended up returning two days later as nowhere else was as good. Go early as it is small and gets busy with locals.

The pintxos here were delicious. Large and lots to choose from. We also found the bar staff to be very friendly and helpful.
