The BEST in El Born!

You have 2 options a 7 course tasting or an 11 and can go wrong with neither. But I would highly recommend the 11 and PLEASE pair it with the wine, you will not be disappointed! Quiet, relaxed, and some of the best food in Barcelona.

I've had the good fortune of eating in a lot of restaurants around the world, including a good number with tasting menus of this sort. I really, really enjoyed this. It was fresh and innovative without going to full-on gel and foam molecular excess. The incredibly fresh nature of the food and the extremely welcoming, unpretentious service were both highlights.... Had the tasting menu with accompanying wines and it was excellent! We enjoyed every course of the meal as well as the wines that came with is. Great service and explanation of the different courses, and the took exactly the right amount of time between every course. One of the best tasting menues I've ever had and I've eaten at... More

I heard great reviews and my hotel concierge recommended the place and i had read great reviews on tripadvisor. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Each and every course was innovative especially the gazpacho soup with ice cream. I am not much of a meat eater but enjoyed every meat that was served. We must have had... More

We had the tasting menu because it was our second last night in Barcelona - the waiters were very helpful and spoke fluent English. The best dish of the night was the ravioli. But I can't say that it is the best value for money.

We went to the Montiel last week, it was our second visit and just as good as our first. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was great. Every course explained about what it was and where it came from and every wine matched perfectly. The staff were attentive, polite and efficient, but I wouldn't expect... More

We had the tasting menu at this restaurant together with the accompanying wines. The food was top notch - so many different subtle tastes and flavours. Certainly one of the best tasting menus we've experience. The wines were also excellent. Each one was carefully chosen to match each course and each one worked perfectly. The service was efficient, friendly and... More

In the last few days since we ate here, we have been enthusiastically recommending Montiel to all of our friends. We had the gourmet tasting menu with wine pairing. The food and wine were excellent. It really was the best value for a tasting menu that we've ever experienced. (We've eaten at a few very good places: Coi, Alinea, Attica,... More

A great dining experience. We had the gastronomic menu....which was 7 courses. Each was very special...and they handled my wife's gluten free issue. If you are a foodie and want to try different things we highly recommend this restaurant. The service is very special. The menu changes frequently so you will always have something special!

We had lunch at Montiel and was the only paying diners in the restaurant. What a surprise, but maybe to our fortune. The waiter, Gabriel, made sure we were entertained from start to finish. His love for food and wine shined through with every introduction, making the atmosphere very pleasant. The food was of great quality, not michelin-worthy, but definitely... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
