Very good cakes and tapas

I ate the hazelnut nougat cake twice and it was soo delicious. The tapas place next to the patisserie has very good Tapas, as well. We chose the Menu and it includes a good choice of Tapas.

Every time when I am in the area, I go for a coffee and one of their fantastic cakes. I rank them in the top 3 of the world. Which basically is the top 3 of Europe as their a hardly bakeries which can reach this kind of level outside of Europe.

We tried a few places so there may be better but this was definitely our favourite tapas of the holiday. Some more interesting choices than a lot of other places, really tasty best patatas bravas we had and not actually that expensive either! Only downside we found was that there wasn't a lot of outside seating and the indoor seating... More

I had an amazing mini chocolate cake from here and it was up there with one of the best things I ate in Barcelona. Definitely worth a visit and it is in a really cool neighbourhood in Barcelona which is also worth wondering around to work off the calories :)

Beautifully presented & absolutely amazing flavour. Would highly recommend a visit. They serve coffees & wine & also has a small seating area. Very reasonably priced too & chocolates gift boxes great for presents. Easy to find just a short walk from the harbour.

It is a worth visiting patisserie; not only the taste but also the shapes, colors, presentation of the desserts is awesome... And the best thing is you pay less than 5 € for a dessert :)

Bubo represents best of the fusion dessert trend in the city, combining Catalan sweet tradition with experimentation and will to take every single creation to the next level. Carles Mampel deserves kudos for taking us to a new dimension.

With so many great patisseries to choose from you might miss the restaurant just down the way. It served a delicious breakfast and offers many interesting flatbread choices as well as the standard bacon and eggs. Even still, make sure you take a patisserie to go!

MACADAM. MACADAM. MACADAM. You must try these caramelized macadamia nuts covered with fleur de sel, white chocolate, Tahitian vanilla, and cocoa powder. I read about these babies but wasn't convinced, so I tried many other things first: Xabina chocolate cake (winner of world's best chocolate cake award): this was more of a mousse with an itty bitty piece of cake.... I found the food very quality and tasty, but the desserts were simply masterpiece! The service was good, and the outside tables on the square were lovely. The portions are not big (and relatively cheap per dish), which allows to try several things. Enjoyed the evening very much.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
