Beautiful food

We found this restaurant from an article written by Jamie Oliver. The food was hearty and gorgeous! We had the beef with chickpeas and black pudding and it was delicious! The wine was perfect too. Minor critism was that there was no music and since it is a small restaurant it was very quiet... read more

This is a very small place in El Raval. She only has six tables or so, but we sat immediately. The dishes were done with obvious care and took a while to arrive - but they were all delicious. It was a wonderful find and worth seeking out.

My partner and I found this place through lonely planet. It's small, good service with a small food selection We both loved the hearty, homemade and full of flavour food. If one is after sophistication, please stay away. This is a simple, genuine place for real food lovers :) Our menu consisted of: Piquillo in oil and garlic (reminded me... More

Followed the Lonely Planet recommendation- what a mistake! Decor, music, and staff fine. My wife and I had 2 different cod dishes - both were very poorly presented, undercooked, and extremely oily. Perhaps the dishes are supposed to be basic- neither had any vegetables or carbohydrates- just undercooked fish in lots of oil, with some bread on the side. And... More

We went there following a friend's recommendation. The staff was brilliant and the food delicious, but overpriced for what you get. However everything is "Km 0" and I guess you pay for that extra quality touch.

On our vacation we tried out this restaurant based on very good recommendations here. Unfortunately our expectations didn't come true as the food and the service was quite disappointing! The restricted offer of dishes and the comparatively high prices make this place a definitely non-advisable spot: small portions - swimming in oil - no space to sit (stools!) - and... More

This is the second time I've been to this hole-in-the-wall tapas joint, and I'm glad to say that it continues to impress. First things first about the neighbourhood (el raval) - very residential, cosy, hip neighbourhood without the pretentiousness. Be sure to save some time before dinner to walk around and explore the shops too. On to the food. Actually... More

We bumped into this non-tourist neighborhood bistro and were we glad we did. Local food, made to order, fresh and delicious with a wine list any restaurant would envy. The evening was capped off with one of the best selections of single malt whiskeys outside of Scotland and a variety of tasty local cheeses. If you like small local bistros,... More

Real Catalan food, unpretentious and delicious. Super nice people. Try the sausage and white beans, the pork ribs with chick peas, the air dried tuna. Just amazing.

Fantastic atmosphere on this very small restaurant. The sausages and porkribs were very very good. The lady that served was perfect at her job. It is a place to come back too.

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
