Curious find

Tiny wine bar hidden away in Ravel with high end local food from good quality produce run by a Catalan and a Dutch boy. Best house wine I have found in Barcelona. Reservations a must if you want to dine there but it is worth popping in to sit at the bar with a snack and see.

very nice, traditional cuisine, excellent wine and cheese and far away from the chaos of touristic places. I recommend it!

We were made to feel very welcome in this small bar which made catalan dishes as its speciality. We had a fish and bean dish and also the highly recommended Ribs and beans dish washed down with local wine. Nice quiet spot away from the bustle of the too touristy places.

This is a tiny little restaurant with simple, really good food. We had a wonderful mushroom sausage, asparagus with thin slices of mushrooms with garlic and roasted pepper, a simple pasta, and a very fresh mixed salad with tuna. If you are in the neighborhood, we would highly recommend you have a meal here.

Found this place some years back, and we loved it, it was good food and had personality. We went back with a friend, service was soso, but still ok! Had 2 nice tapas for starter, and then we ordered a giant 750 gr entrecote as a sharing maincourse for the 3 of us, medium cooked. The entrecote arrives, filling a... More

Quiet joint tucked away in an alleyway. Made a special trip once when it was closed because we read about it and tried again later when we paid proper attention to the opening hours - WORTH IT! We had pork ribs with chickpeas and cod fried in olive oil with garlic and chill. Both absolutely amazing. Also had marinated anchovies... More

We ate at Mam I Teca twice during our 10 day trip to Barcelona. The food is simple, Catalan style but very tasty and beautifully cooked. The owners - who run the place - are lovely and made the stays a really ejoyable. If you want some good food for really good prices and are not too fussed about fancy... More

Recently went back to Mam i teca having recalled pleasant meals there from previous visits to Barcelona some 7 or 8 years ago. I was very happy to find it was as good as I remembered. Simple food done well, with a fantastic selection of mainly local wines to accompany, and friendly service. Get there early to get a table... More

Having been prepared to sit at the bar, we luckily arrived just as another couple were leaving so managed to get one of the four or five tables in the restaurant. This meal was one of the highlights of the trip (and we ate far too much). The meat, cheese, grilled peppers and fish salad were all delicious, but the... More

My travel partner and I spotted this tiny restaurant one morning on our way to a coffee shop. It was closed but we spotted the high zagat rating in the window and decided to come back. We were so glad we did! Our meal was simple (white asparagus, some meats, some wine), but beautifully done. The staff (the owners we... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
