A canelone is the Catalan version of the Italian pasta, cannelloni. In Barcelona, you'll find it stuffed with a variety of fillings, ranging from traditional pork to pork trotters, chicken or in the case of Caldeni, stewed oxtail in a sinful meat reduction. Just another example of the creativity of the frugal Catalans - canelones used to be prepared with... More

We dined at Caldeni several times during our stay in Barcelona (October through to January) and were never disappointed. The food was thoughtful, cooked well and beautifully presented. They always had an interesting take on traditional Spanish and Catalan cuisine and as someone else has mentioned here, their patatas bravas are memorable and so delicious, as was everything we tried.... I'm from Barcelona and I have been in the restaurant 4 times. It was great 6 years ago, with a skinny waiter that turned the dinner into a special experience. Then back twice for the reasonable lunch menu finding a grumpy female waiter the turned the nice linch into an unconfortable situation. People make the difference many times. Yesterday went... More

Saw good reviews on TA and decided to give it a try, definitely worth the visit! Conveniently located near the Familia Sagrada, we went in for lunch without reservation and luckily managed to get a table for 2 (restaurant is pretty small). Had Patata bravas and it was simply awesome! The best that we had in Spain and left us... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by Alex of Aborigines food tours and we were not disappointed. Four of us went for lunch and shared a variety of starters, main meals and desserts including sardines, suckling pig, scallops and Kobe steak. Flavours were exceptional and service was impeccable. On their own initiative, they split the main dishes and plated them... More

A recommendation from the concierge at the Mandarin Oriental - and it was a great one! Lots of different little plates for starters. Mains focused on meat but some delicious seafood too. Awesome little place with great service!

Cordon bleu cuisine with attention to fine details. Although not cheap, more than satisfying. You must try the Vieiras and the Patatas Bravas!

We came here because we read about it in a guide book and ratings on this site sealed the deal. The opening hours aren't that great but we really wanted to try this place. We did not have a reservation, but were happily accommodated. My husband ordered the suckling pig (19€) and I had the Kobe beef (top sirloin -... More

We read the reviews and thought we would give it a go, we wished we hadn't bothered. The place was dead, not atmosphere what so ever. The food is nice, but not worth the high prices they charge.

When you visit la Sagrada Familia, you usually spend quite a bit of time there and then get hungry. But it is very difficult to find a good restaurant close by. On my fourth trip to Barcelona, I was not going to let this happen to me again, so I did my research before hand and found Caldeni. It was... More
