Amazing place

If you are having lunch in the area, skip the dessert at the restaurant and go to Pastisseria Hofmann. It will be difficult to choose among all the chocolates, croissants, cakes, breads...I've been there a few times and I always get some chocolates, but I also recommend the pastries.

Nice pastry shop with good pastries, especially their croissants and macaroons. I would agree that these are some of the best I have tasted in Spain, but obviously not as good as French ones. Although it does look fancy, their prices are not that bad for the quality. Nice staff. Since they do not have tables to seat at, we... More

I dont understand the hipe about this place, they say the have the best croissant but any bakery in France can put them to chame, the flavour was fine but nothing amazing, the sweet croissants are so sugar coated that you can not feel the flavour Not really recommended for anyone who has tasted real true bakery No worth the... We were staying in the neighborhood and after the first morning when we tried some of the croissants could not resist anymore and ended up having breakfast there every day. Try the ones with almond, raspberry and mascarpone...

Wow, is all one can say after biting into one of either the raspberry or almond paste croissants. I do not recall having anything like it anywhere. Great selection of top of the line pastry items.

I just got in to get a croissant but the surprise was amazing. The mascarpone croissant is the best croissant I have ever had in my life. The soft cream inside is just perfect in terms of taste and texture. I will repeat.

Bought a pastry at the Pastisseria Hofmann and walked half a block to La Seca, which is also owned by the Hofmans and bought a fabulous sandwich and coffee. Everything was top-notch. The Pastisseria has lovely and delicious pastries and La Seca is also over-the-top great.

Bit hard to find but it is a gem. The marscapone croissant was great but the strawberry was my favourite. Our apartment was a distance away but we still got back twice. Sit in the nearby square and enjoy ... everyone else does.

Small place with very good pastries from crossinats to little cakes. You can't really sit there and eat. They don't offer chairs and tables but you can sit outside on the city bench, looking at the people on their way to another day.

Literally the best croissants ever. If you are thinking of getting anything in Barcelona you have got to try this patisserie. It is said that the young rebels of Catalonia work every day to produce the best sugary croissants ever and deliver them here to the rebel base.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
